It’s the best way to enjoy a memorable meal while still having room for one of their incredible cocktails from the separate bar room, where quiet piano music plays in the background.

Housed in what was clearly a family-friendly diner before its recent remodel, Star Restaurant in Novato serves our favorite Latin-inspired dishes in town—the chicken empanadas are crispy and flavorful on the outside, with a tender, savory filling, and they’re especially satisfying as part of the mixed BBQ plate. And they offer more than just Latin cuisine here—all of the generous portions can also be enjoyed with American classics like well-seasoned crispy fries.
Much like at its diner predecessor, everything here is welcoming for families and well-equipped for a relaxed meal, but there’s also a playful atmosphere with a life-like horse statue for kids to ride.
Sam’s Place
