Angelina’s Mexican Restaurant
$ | (972) 221-9892 | WEBSITE

Thanks to the warm glow from the windows, we’ve driven by this spot a few times thinking it was just another casual Tex-Mex joint even though it is in fact a standout. There’s often a wait, but the enchiladas and fajitas are worth it. Grab a plate of their not-too-spicy-not-too-bland steak fajitas, some crispy flautas, or a generous taco salad for a family dinner or date night, and you’ll be satisfied.

Like with any casual meet-up spot, you’ll probably get seated quickly if you walk in. Prepare to stay awhile.

Stixx And Stones Billiards is the undisputed king of casual pool halls in Lewisville, and it’s a damn good spot we wish was in every town. Their loaded french fries with bacon and cheese are an exciting antidote to any weeknight blues. As are their well-executed sliders, chicken bacon cheese quesadillas, and potato skins. The place is clean and well-lit but keeps things moving efficiently with plenty of 9-foot and 7-foot diamond tables.
You’ll probably have to wait for a table on league nights before sliding into a tournament or snagging one of the well-maintained pool tables.
Up In Smoke Lewisville
$$ | (972) 315-1300 | WEBSITE

It’s hard to not stop in whenever you’re near Up In Smoke Lewisville. Come to this cigar bar for their premium cigars, like the Leather Rose that’s more sophisticated than simple, but they also have a full bar if you have time to savor more than just a fine smoke. The stars are the craft cocktails, which are basically desserts masquerading as drinks, but we’re not complaining about that. We especially like the old-fashioned and espresso versions—but the regular ones hold their own, too.
It’s good we don’t live next door to this place, because we’d be sipping 90 cocktails a day.
Chante Mexican Grill & Cantina
$ | (469) 293-8098 | WEBSITE

This Mexican cantina feels like it’s been around forever, but the timeless vibe is part of the appeal. Dining here is like being at the home of a friend who really loves bold colors and lively music. The food, which we can only describe as classic yet elevated, matches the festive atmosphere, but the flavors are truly outstanding. There’s a beef fajita platter that’s heavy on well-seasoned, tender protein, a perfectly executed brisket taco, and delightful mole enchiladas.
Since Chante is pretty relaxed you can easily walk in without a wait (they accommodate families and larger groups), so it’s a great casual gathering spot. The complimentary chips with homemade salsa and ice-cold beer make everything even better.
