Our Phoenix team hits dozens of Mesa spots monthly—from buzzy new openings to classic haunts we revisit. But when a bar restaurant truly wows us with standout cocktails and food, we can’t wait to share. These 10 Mesa gems deliver that perfect blend, making every visit memorable.
Duchess
$ | (480) 641-1550 | WEBSITE

Everybody is heading to the newly remodeled Duchess right now to check out the updates (which are looking great), but here’s what I’m still thinking about from my recent stop: the $8 sliders, which do indeed arrive piping hot. They’ve got everything you’d want from a bar snack: nicely seasoned but bold in flavor, perfectly grilled, and in this case, subtly savory from the special sauce. I’ve passed over these before, but I won’t make that mistake again.
Aguila’s Hidaway – The office bar and grill
$ | (480) 649-1650 | WEBSITE

Aguila’s Hideaway relocated from its original spot somewhat recently, which further proved that I’d follow their Washington Apple shots anywhere. Their dive bar atmosphere is my new obsession, and exactly what I want on a casual evening. Classic dive bar decor is filled with cozy, worn-in seating and lit by soft, warm lighting—each visit feels welcoming and familiar with friendly regulars and bartenders like Nicole around. It was worth every slightly uncomfortable chair moment.
Tipsy Cactus TapRoom & Bottle Shop
$ | (480) 268-9887 | WEBSITE

I stop by Tipsy Cactus a few times a month, but I completely overlooked their food truck offerings until last week. Their rotating selection of street food is surprisingly satisfying, with each bite delivering that perfect mix of indulgence and flavor. It’s not as heavy as you might expect—in fact, it’s all the good stuff rolled into one, with hints of smoky barbecue, crispy fried goodness, and savory spices in every mouthful.
Paired with a cold craft beer from their knowledgeable staff, it’s downright delightful.
Cider Corps Mesa
$ | (480) 993-3164 | WEBSITE

I’m late to the Cider Corps train, but let me tell you what every Mesa cider lover already knows: this spot in the heart of town makes a fantastic wood-fired pizza. There are actually several ciders on their menu, but the more straightforward Apple Pie Cider is the move. It’s uncomplicated in the best way—just a crisp, flavorful blend with warm spice notes and a smooth finish that pairs perfectly with the delicious pizza from Myles Pizza.
The bartenders are super helpful at guiding your choice, and the whole place has this fun, lively vibe with grenade nozzles on the walls and stickers everywhere. It’s a serve-yourself setup, but the register staff is always friendly. Sure, some items run a bit pricey, but for a first-class pizza and those super crisp ciders, it’s totally worth it. If you’re looking for a fun place to hang out with great drinks and food, this is your spot.
Hiatus on Main
$ | (480) 306-7341 | WEBSITE

You’ll immediately notice the super chill vibe when you walk into Hiatus on Main, and you can expect that almost everything on the menu at this Mesa spot will be reasonably priced, including these standout wings. The sauce is tangy like a classic dive bar favorite, complemented by a crispy, juicy interior. It blurs the line between quick bite and satisfying meal, which is a winning combination in my books.
Los Dos Molinos
$ | (480) 969-7475 | WEBSITE

I was already planning my second meal at Los Dos Molinos once I tried their incredible chips and salsa, but I knew the place was 10 Best Bars material after their carne Adovado tamales arrived. This family-run New Mexican spot in Mesa nails the texture of the tamale’s masa: each one resembles a soft pillow that bursts like a flavor bomb of spicy pork and rich red chile sauce. And if you prefer a mouthful of melted cheese, Los Dos Molinos makes superb stacked enchiladas, too.
Chilaquiles Modern Kitchen
$$ | (480) 427-0662 | WEBSITE

Chilaquiles Modern Kitchen is a vibrant brunch spot that has gained popularity through social media, and while it does its signature chilaquiles and molcajete bowls well enough, my favorite thing here was the impressive drink selection. Among the lively options filling the table were the mango mimosa, the pina colada touted as the best in Phoenix, and other refreshing brunch cocktails. I could have just sipped those with a plate of their next-level strawberry pancakes and left happy.
Lucky Lou’s American Kitchen
$ | (480) 500-5565 | WEBSITE

Lucky Lou’s American Kitchen reminds me of every other lively neighborhood diner in town with good music and fun atmosphere. That said, my meal at this retro spot did stand out for its finesse with blackened Walleye. Inspired by classic American comfort food, Lou’s Walleye is so perfectly cooked and flavorful that the flaky fish falls apart at the touch of a fork, like something a hungry patron from an old diner would savor.
Be sure to use whatever fries or onion rings are handy to scoop up the zesty, buttery pan sauce.
Chili’s Grill & Bar
$ | (480) 969-0515 | WEBSITE

It’s been a while since I last visited Chili’s Grill & Bar, a family-friendly spot where the 3 for Me menu offers great value and meals arrive quickly. But once dishes like their juicy burgers or perfectly cooked salmon appeared, I was reminded why a meal here is consistently satisfying. In this case, they serve generous portions with healthy sides for the kids, like mac and cheese or burgers, while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.
The service is always professional and kind, with staff members like Jacob going above and beyond, and the manager often celebrating special moments with free desserts or discounts.
Fired Pie
$ | (480) 247-9788 | WEBSITE

The custom pizzas at Fired Pie are assembled like you’re designing your dream meal, which is perfectly fitting for a build-your-own spot. After trying a few of their topping combinations, it was the specialty pizza that really won me over. The blend of flavors in that pie offered just the right balance, and the crust was so perfectly crisp that I spent a good minute savoring every last bite left on the plate.
