The cozy beer haven on Mount Pleasant’s main strip is best known for its impressive selection of over 30 taps, but the friendly staff and welcoming vibe make Crafty Draught worth the regular stop whenever you’re craving a cold one.
The $18 sampler flight comes with four generous pours of rotating local favorites, which you can enjoy at the rustic wooden bar before heading out with a six-pack of Trillium cans to go.
Five Loaves Cafe

This Mount Pleasant gem needs no introduction, but their California-vibey cafe offers something special—the opportunity to eat insanely fresh food that elevates humble classics. Expect expertly made sandwiches like the pimento grilled cheese, peppercorn/horseradish/coriander rare roast beef, and the unique Portobello goat cheese sandwich with amazing char. The standout Caesar salad with anchovies, tomato/tarragon/crab soup, and broccoli potato soup? Must-tries.

There are so many boats on the Wando River that, after a while, you’ll begin to completely dissociate and let the current take over your thoughts. Go regain mental clarity at Wando River Grill. This casual seafood restaurant is right on the riverfront, but feels like a clean break from the bustle. The lovely, relaxed space is filled almost entirely with locals and the food is both reasonably priced and fantastic.
Go for the beer-battered fish and chips—they’re our favorite in Mount Pleasant—which are made with fresh fish crispy enough to support generous scoops of tartar sauce, lemon, and malt vinegar.

This pizza joint can certainly get busy during family dinner hours, but if you’re able to visit during off-peak times, you’ll be treated to a relaxed atmosphere and the best gluten-free options for the price in the area.
The accommodating staff, including Liz who handles large parties with ease and Mark behind the bar who makes takeout seamless, creates an experience that feels genuinely welcoming. While the recent price increases might give you pause, the veggie pepperoni, kid-friendly arcade, and overall cheerful vibe make it worth returning for that next celebration.
The Basement

After realizing the Sunday karaoke at The Basement had already started without you, you decide to skip the crowded stage area and grab a stool at the bar instead. This local Mount Pleasant spot has been serving up fun for years, but remains one of the most reliably enjoyable hangouts in the area. The menu keeps things simple but satisfying, whether it’s crispy mozzarella sticks, pulled pork sammies with tangy vinegar BBQ sauce, or just reasonably priced drinks from the friendly bartenders.
This is the kind of food and vibe that will easily make up for missing out on belting your favorite ’90s power ballad.
Cantina 76

These flavorful, well-prepared plates are culinary highlights and some of the best reasons to visit this part of town.
