Orillia’s burger scene is bursting with options, making choosing where to sink your teeth into a juicy patty as daunting as navigating a crowded farmers’ market on a Saturday morning. But fear not, hungry friends. This definitive guide cuts through the noise to spotlight the absolute best—from classic diner-style cheeseburgers to gourmet creations with artisanal toppings. Let’s dive into the top ten spots that truly deliver.
French’s
$ | (705) 325-4990 | WEBSITE

This is the original location of this classic burger joint (the other is in Uptown), though we love them both. Anything from their grill will be worth the trip, such as the burgers, crispy fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and much more. Everything is made fresh daily, and there are plenty of tables. It’s affordable and cash only.
Studabakers
$$ | (705) 259-4646 | WEBSITE

Studabakers stands out from other burger joints in Orillia by having a prime lakeside location and a vast, varied menu. But don’t let the latter overwhelm you—you’ll find plenty of the usual favorites, including the Farmhouse burger, shrimp tacos, and mac & cheese. Everything is prepared fresh, so the food might take a bit longer during busy times, but it tastes more satisfying that way.
Wendy’s
$ | (705) 325-5550 | WEBSITE

Wendy’s is one of the many fast-food burger chains that have been serving Orillia for years. What we really like about this particular spot is that their Baconator burger is very substantial—to the point where the staff mention it’s a favorite. They’re not exaggerating. The perfectly seasoned fries that come with the meal are foreshadowing. But the non-burger options, like the spicy chicken sandwich, are also tasty. Our strategy is to get a combo meal and share the chili as a side.
The clean dining area is pretty welcoming, with booths and tables good for individuals or small groups. Another thing we really like about Wendy’s? They have a robust soda fountain with drinks that aren’t watered down. Plus, they have salads like the garden salad, which make a fantastic lighter option when you want something fresh.
Dairy Queen Grill & Chill
$ | (705) 325-0034 | WEBSITE

We’re big fans of this burger spot in Orillia. For one thing, this restaurant has picnic tables under the trees, which is nice. And the menu has standout items like the Oreo Cupfection with brownie, which is not only delicious, but offers a unique taste you can’t find elsewhere. They have a friendly staff, who remain kind even during busy times, and provide excellent customer service. Plus, you can order classics like burgers, chicken fingers, and fries, and they’re all top-notch.
Come here for a quick bite or with family, and plan to enjoy everything.
A&W Canada
$ | (705) 327-5356 | WEBSITE

This classic, efficient drive-thru spot in Orillia specializes in reliable fast food. It’s similar to other burger chains, but the onion rings don’t skimp on batter, so they’re a little crispier. Plus, A&W’s straightforward menu also has options for vegetarians—like the Beyond Meat burger, poutine, and hash browns, to name a few. Everything comes with friendly service, so you don’t have to worry about the accuracy of your order.
This place is also a little busy: you’ll find shared parking with a gas station, occasional challenges with space, and a popular location, which sounds frustrating but we promise is manageable.
Webers
$ | (705) 325-3696 | WEBSITE

The best place for burgers in Orillia. They serve a wide range of options, including the delicious Cheeseburger with crispy fries and a refreshing chocolate shake, and the poutine with thin, soft fries that aren’t oily is the best thing on the menu. If you like things extra satisfying, the outdoor seating includes picnic tables in a green space and a renovated train cart, the latter of which is charming enough to warrant a ‘sit here and get a photo’ moment.
Kenzington Burger Bar
$$ | (705) 558-2262 | WEBSITE

You should go to Kenzington Burger Bar for one reason: the live music on Saturdays. Sure, this cozy spot has other stuff going for it, but don’t worry about that. It’s the lively ambiance created by the music that needs to be experienced. Get a burger with sweet potato fries, or onion rings, and throw in a great drink, too.
Harvey’s
$ | (705) 327-2172 | WEBSITE

Besides both being Canadian classics, another thing that Harvey’s and other burger joints have in common is the drive-through. When it comes to fast food service, though, we prefer Harvey’s. This place got its start with its counter where you add your own toppings, but now it’s become a regular spot for many, the only downside of which is that parking can be tight when it’s busy due to all the other restaurants nearby.
Order a burger with your custom fixings, and be prepared for a satisfying meal—the food is fantastic.
Tent Kitchen + Wine Bar
$ | (705) 326-8368 | WEBSITE

This Orillia gem tucked away in a converted old gas station on Simcoe County Rd 169 was recently elevated by its passionate owner-chef, and both the atmosphere and menu have been thoughtfully curated. Now, the unassuming space is filled with great jazz music and comfortable seating, and the menu has been focused to elevated comfort food, brunch specialties, and dishes like steak and octopus.
One of their highlights is the homemade rosemary focaccia, and their hand-rolled gnocchi is an excellent choice when you’re here for dinner. They have about a dozen different offerings, ranging from the shaved prime rib sandwich with chimichurri, Tent’s Fried Chicken and Waffles, and lemon ricotta pancakes.
