There are a lot of reliable, convenient spots around Vila Nova De Gaia: a family-friendly pizzeria with a play area, a traditional Portuguese tavern with live fado music, and at least three waterfront seafood restaurants. Then there’s KFC Campo 24 Agosto, a popular fried chicken destination.
The restaurant offers two distinct advantages: there’s a spacious dining area with well-presented tables where people order crispy chicken buckets and Oreo milkshakes, and then there’s a quick-service counter where staff like Lucas and Mário handle orders with professional efficiency. And aside from enjoying the friendly, smiling management, you’ll get to try the unique cheddar sauce available only here.
FYI—they share ample parking with a nearby store, but note that bathrooms can sometimes be locked, and it’s wise to check your food temperature before settling in.
KFC Arrábida Shopping
Offering both counter service and takeaway options, and more chicken varieties than the shopping center has stores, the menu at this American spot gets classic with things like crispy tenders made with fresh ingredients, and the signature fried chicken. But they also do more straightforward dishes well, too, like the delicious chicken sandwiches, and the family meal combos.
With service that shines through even during busy hours, we stop in here between errands or make a special trip for a quick meal and that repeat experience.
KFC (KFC Lordelo do Ouro)
KFC’s $8, 3-piece chicken combo has been around forever, and on most afternoons, it’s still worth the money. You might eat expertly fried hot wings covered in crispy batter and secret spices, and crunchy Kentucky Fries to end your quick lunch or family dinner.
And whether you’re at the crowded drive-through dealing with the noise and congestion or sitting at one of the adequate tables with a group of friends, you’ll feel like everybody working at the Lordelo do Ouro restaurant can somehow read your mind. Come here if you have something to satisfy, but heads up—sometimes we leave thirsty.
KFC Gaia Centro
KFC Gaia Centro makes fantastic chicken wings, and they have an especially impressive selection of juicy burgers. But it’s the Wednesdays that make this kid-friendly spot a standout in Vila Nova De Gaia. The wings are the perfect crispy treat for every family outing. The fresh, flavorful food comes with quick service, clean facilities, and some notably approachable staff. The manager is what you’ll be thinking about after you leave.
KFC SOL Matosinhos
Vila Nova De Gaia was missing a great chicken spot. And Matosinhos was missing a place for hot, juicy wings. Now, the city and neighborhood have both. KFC SOL Matosinhos looks like any other fast-food chicken place, but it stands out for its crispy original chicken pieces made with quality ingredients. On one side of the counter, there’s service dedicated to a $12 chicken combo that mixes wings, pieces, and classic sides like tasty fries with a soda.
But if you want to focus on takeout, order at the separate kiosk where you can grab a marathon of a la carte chicken wrapped in paper like precious treats.
KFC Parque Nascente
During peak hours, this KFC location can get chaotic. But once you catch the scent of fried chicken and taste the crispy chicken sandwich and fries, you’ll see why people keep coming back. Most items on the menu are under €10, and you’ll be craving that original recipe chicken through the afternoon.
With crispy coating, juicy meat, and that signature blend of herbs and spices, the only thing that’ll slow you down is deciding whether to eat it with your hands or use a fork for that first perfect bite.
KFC Ermesinde
Thanks to its convenient parking, wheelchair accessibility, and spacious outdoor area, this chicken spot is always full of families enjoying fast food and bringing their pets along. You should be one of them—KFC Ermesinde serves some of the best chicken in the neighborhood (our favorite is the crispy, flavorful original recipe).
Plus, you can usually stop by without a long wait, order a few items like the notable chicken buckets and sides, and spend the rest of the meal enjoying efficient service and friendly staff smiles. Come in the afternoon and you’ll have a great view of the outdoor space or a happy child enjoying their occasional treat.
KFC Circunvalação
KFC Circunvalação is one of the first spots that comes to mind when you want to eat in Vila Nova De Gaia–and not just because it offers the same top-notch service and delicious food as KFC Porto. Grab a seat in the bright dining area with its convenient location near public transportation, or settle in for a quick and satisfying bite where the lighting can make it tricky to watch TV while you eat.
For a little taste of everything, try the $12 family bucket promotion, which includes crispy fried chicken, sides, and biscuits. Enjoy the friendly staff, crispy chicken tenders, and finish with larger dishes like the classic chicken sandwich. You don’t need reservations for this casual spot, but you can always pop in for a quick meal and promotions.
