Months have melted into years since you last wore real pants, and your idea of ‘Italian’ has devolved into cold spaghetti from a takeout container. As you stare at another empty Monday, you wonder: Does anything matter? And also… when was the last time you tasted actual fresh pasta? Let’s fix that.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill
$$ | (281) 338-0574 | WEBSITE

Much like our expectations for consistency and belief in lasting perfection, Carrabba’s menu has evolved a bit since its early days. Gone are some of the original standout preparations that first won over the neighborhood, but in their place is a reliable, family-friendly selection of Italian-American comfort foods. That means dishes like Filet and Shrimp Pasta Toscana, lamb chops with mint Demi-glace, and lobster ravioli – a.k.a.
meals that pair really well with a contemplation of life’s simpler pleasures, such as “Can a restaurant stay great forever?” and “Seriously, where did I put my car keys?” The staff, especially Adam with his helpful recommendations, keeps things running smoothly, and the ample parking and kid-friendly atmosphere make it an easy choice for families. While the food quality remains solid, some regulars notice it’s not quite what it was when the place first opened.
Carrabba’s is available for dine-in and takeout, and remains a popular spot for those seeking a satisfying, no-fuss Italian meal.

From Chicken Saltimbocca to Shrimp Diavolo to the perfect tiramisu that’s not too sweet, this incredible Alvin restaurant still has everything you need for a romantic evening – all of which you can enjoy in their dimly lit, brick-oven-scented atmosphere. Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
$ | (281) 488-1022 | WEBSITE

Things that are bad for quelling existential dread: Endless scrolling through food delivery apps (overpriced fees, mediocre reheated meals that taste of regret, constant reminders that modern convenience has stripped away the simple joy of a well-prepared dinner, etc.). Things that are good for quelling existential dread: Italian restaurants located in Alvin strip malls. In other words, Olive Garden.
They’ve got some of the best pasta in town, from make-your-own bowls with house Alfredo sauce and your choice of proteins to wonderful salads and those always-amazing breadsticks. The choice is yours… or is it? Olive Garden Italian Restaurant offers gluten-free and vegan options – visit their clean, friendly location where servers like Moses provide excellent suggestions, or call for takeout if manager Noel ensures your satisfaction.
Saruzzo’s New York Pizzeria
$ | (281) 332-3191 | WEBSITE

Less of a pizzeria, and more of a New York slice of heaven featuring brick oven pies and calzones, back when BYOB was still an option, this Alvin spot is one of the most satisfying places to spend a Friday night. And while their delivery service is definitely not the same as eating there (no brick oven to-go, sadly), you can still blast classic rock, crack open a cold one, and devour their extra thin, extra crispy cheese pizza from the comfort of your own couch.
Which is probably better than whatever you weregoingto do, like stare at the microwave for six hours, or pretend to finishWar and Peace. (Spoiler alert: the pizza wins.) Saruzzo’s is available for takeout and delivery, call them or find them on the delivery platforms.
Tommaso’s Italian Grill & Cajun Seafood
$ | (281) 331-6262 | WEBSITE

Yeah, we’ll say it. It’s a shame we can’t just hang out at Tommaso’s Italian Grill & Cajun Seafood all night anymore. Honestly, half the fun was grabbing a seat at their open bar, listening to the occasional live music drifting from the pavilion, and watching, with equal parts anticipation and disbelief, as your steaming plate of crawfish or bubbling baked ziti got ferried across the dining room by a waitress who somehow kept her cool with a huge party.
And thinking about it now, maybe that was the whole point? Maybe we’ve become that perfect mix of pizza sauce worthy of Guy Fieri and great prices, simmering in a welcoming atmosphere that’s seen better days, thanks to a few thousand weeks of just needing a reliable spot. Just something to chew on.
Anyway, everything from their famous pizza and pasta dishes to the Boudin balls, burger, and catfish is still available for takeout, and the manager’s even been known to wait for late Uber orders after closing. Call them up or find Tommaso’s on most delivery apps. Live music and pavilion vibes not included.

Birraporetti’s
$$ | (281) 993-8901 | WEBSITE

Did the people who opened Birraporetti’s anticipate that we’d someday be craving comfort, simplicity, and a little slice of joy in a world that often feels too complicated? It kind of seems like they did—almost everything on the menu at this wonderfully cozy spot in Alvin feels like it was designed to soothe the soul and remind you that good things still exist.
The lasagna and eggplant parm with fettuccini are served with generous portions of rich sauce and perfectly cooked pasta, the spinach artichoke dip comes warm and bubbling with crispy bread… and they’re offering a Sunday buffet with endless Italian entrees, pizzas, and salads?? OK, I’m sold. Like, how can you say that dining out is stressful when there’s a buffet that feels like a hug?
Birraporetti’s is calm, spacious, and very clean, with awesome, friendly staff who smile and offer suggestions—perfect for a special dinner or just a night when you need something delicious. They even have a kid menu and clearly describe everything for dietary needs. Call ahead or just walk in; either way, you’ll leave feeling better.

Stefano’s
$ | (281) 992-2233 | WEBSITE

The last couple weeks have been especially difficult (ex. we finally had to make peace with the fact that pineapple belongs on pizza, and like, not as a bit), but things are looking up. Stefano’s is here. This is some of the best, most satisfying vegan pizza you’ll find outside of New York, so it’s time to order all of the Daiya cheese pizza, eggplant parmigiana, and porcini ravioli your little credit card can handle. Or, you know what? Hit your limit. Nothing matters.
Stefano’s is available for takeout and delivery, call them or find them on various delivery platforms.
Locals Kitchen + Market
$ | (281) 817-0226 | WEBSITE

Locals Kitchen + Market is a certified Alvin institution. And while, for the purpose of this guide, the actual existence of “the best burger in Houston” is up in the air, there’s no denying the pure, uninhibited joy that comes from digging into their plates of wings, cheeseburgers, and incredible smash burgers. Don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of time for that “best burger” debate for later.

Jet’s Pizza
$ | (281) 485-9700 | WEBSITE

There are plenty of solid pizza joints in Alvin, but one of the best, and certainly the most satisfying, is this reliable take-out spot on the main drag. Half Detroit-style specialist, half classic pie shop, there’s no better place in town to crush a $24 deep dish pizza while grabbing some perfectly seasoned chicken wings.
And while they’re not offering any of their tremendous Detroit-style pies for delivery (yet), they just introduced a new takeout special, which includes their signature thick-crust pizza, well-divided toppings, and the Jet’s Combo, where for $32, you get a medium pizza, eight wings, and a side salad. Or, as it’s referred to in ‘The Neighborhood,’ the exact combination of things we need to keep us from doing something drastic, like driving all the way to Houston.
Jet’s Pizza is available for takeout, call (281) 388-1234 to order.
Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse
$ | (713) 324-2722 | WEBSITE

And while they do serve spaghetti, as well as a buffalo chicken calzone and some of the best foldable pizzas in town, whenever we need to forget about the week’s chaos (it’s really chaotic), we order their signature pizza.
This incredible creation, with its perfectly crisp crust and wonderful flavor, somehow tastes cheesy, savory, herby, and satisfying all at once, and is exactly what you want to be eating whenever you look at your empty beer glass and think “Again.” Parry’s Pizzeria & Taphouse is available for dine-in with their great beer selection, call ahead for busy nights, or find them on various delivery platforms.
Crust Pizza Co. – League City

This family-friendly Italian spot has been serving League City for years, and has a variety of hand-made pizzas that are guaranteed to bring you back from any existential spiral.
The Alfredo chicken pizza is a must, the pasta Primavera is too, and make sure to get at least one order of their popular veggie pizza – served with fresh vegetables and topped with tasty basil soup, this delicious option can go head-to-head with any pizza in town, and most importantly, can be enjoyed with outdoor seating.
Both their kid-friendly atmosphere and green space are available for families, especially on Tuesdays when kids eat free, or find them ready to assist with employees like Travis and Bri.

Pomodoro’s Cucina Italiana Clear Lake
$$ | (281) 954-6278 | WEBSITE

Back in the olden days – a.k.a. “last year” – this immensely popular Italian restaurant was known to have one of the busiest dinner rushes in the Clear Lake area. And for a good reason – their fantastic seafood pasta is flat-out fantastic, and their homemade pasta with salmon is rich as hell. But what has been our move, and will always be our move, is to get the pizza, which comes with fresh vegetables, large portions, and oven-cooked chicken. Looks like even on a weeknight, old habits die hard.
Pomodoro’s is available for catering, call to book your next event.

Rich, layered, and packed with flavor, this dish from Angelo’s is basically divine intervention on a plate.
