When you were eighteen, impressing a new friend was easy. You just had to casually let them know that you had a fake ID and take a puff of a cigarette without keeling over. You might think that impressing your grown-up friends is harder, but it’s easy at 10 De Mayo.
Between the festive ambiance, stacked bottles of top-shelf tequila, and lined up glasses of margaritas, this vibrant Mexican restaurant in Beaumont manages to feel very authentic without giving the impression of being owned by the world’s biggest food snob. On the menu side they serve everything from birria tacos to classic fajitas nachos, but our favourite thing here is the Fajitas Jalisco.

Casa Tapatia Mexican Restaurant & Bar
$ | (409) 377-6452 | WEBSITE

Beaumont has its share of unassuming spots serving genuinely delicious food, and Casa Tapatia is definitely one of them. This Mexican restaurant is nearly impossible not to enjoy, and you’ll likely feel a little charmed by the time you head out. Their tableside guacamole is the stuff of local lore, whether you’re just stopping by for a drink or settling in for a full meal. The vibe is very relaxed and homey: there’s a pleasant hum in the evening and it’s quite laid-back during the day.
But it’s the food—like the chicken stuffed avocado and those made-in-house tortillas—that will really leave a mark.
