Abelardo’s Mexican Fresh is one of our favorite Salina spots for a satisfying meal—not just because it’s far removed from the typical fast-food monotony, but also because the dining room is clean and bright, there’s a fantastic self-service bar, and everything on the menu, from the enormous ground beef burrito smothered in queso to the amazing Birria taco to the chicken chimichanga that’s considered the best, is excellent.
Pull up a seat, order a Birria Plate, and know there’s no possible way to leave disappointed.
La Curva

La Curva is a straightforward Mexican spot that might just serve the best food in Salina. You can expect super fast service that keeps things moving even when they’re busy, making for a surprisingly pleasant experience. In particular, they serve phenomenal churi pollo, a.k.a. tender chicken in a rich, flavorful sauce accompanied by great sides and massive, delicious margaritas which you can (and should) enjoy with their Mexican Iced Tea.
There are other solid options like steak and shrimp, but be real—you’re here for those incredible flavors and the clean, nice atmosphere.
Taco Bell

It would take a power outage, a flat tire, or a sudden craving for kale to keep us away from Taco Bell on E. Iron. This spot is dedicated to fast, friendly Mexican-inspired fare, and it’s so reliable that you’ll want to swing by during your lunch break. That is, unless you’d like to miss out on their cheerful service and prompt orders, even when they’re minutes from closing. The Cantina vegetarian bowl is satisfying, with fresh ingredients that stay vibrant even when you’re eating on the go.
But our favorite item is the vegetarian burrito, a.k.a. a warm tortilla wrapped around seasoned beans, rice, and melty cheese, topped with tangy salsa and a sprinkle of lettuce. Meat lovers, this is your gateway dish. Make Taco Bell a go-to for a quick bite (or a regular pit stop)—just make sure you bring your appetite.

They maintained the welcoming vibe with cheerful staff and efficient service, and though it’s drive-thru only, you can still expect a line of regulars during peak hours. It’s all worth it for the most satisfying quick meal you’ll find after dark. The California burrito is packed with generous fillings and fresh ingredients.
Crispy fiesta tacos amplified with red and green sauces make simple tacos exciting. And the chile relleno burrito has tender peppers and cheese wrapped in a perfectly grilled tortilla. Yeah, a short wait for that is a small price to pay.
Los Tres Oros

Los Tres Oros is our favorite spot for Tex Mex in Salina. From the Pino Loca with beef, chicken fajitas and pineapple to perfectly grilled fish tacos, the food here is so great on its own that we almost forget about the many other delicious things on their menu (looking at you, camarones Mexicano, unsweetened ice tea, and those more-than-enough-to-fill-up fajitas). If you prefer your Mexican in vegetarian form, they also serve about five clearly labeled options.
La Jerezana

One of our go-to quick meal spots, this small interior—filled with authentic Mexican food instead of flashy decor—is consistently our first choice for anything that can be scooped up with a surplus of fresh chips and salsa. La Jerezana houses the best Mexican food in town, and they belong among the stars for their Al Pastor tacos alone, rich with marinated pork and paired with unique, flavorful sauces.
La Jerezana also excels at Mexican classics like carne asada burritos smothered in queso and gorditas, as well as hall of fame-worthy chips and salsa. It’s all just as excellent whether you’re hanging out in the cozy space enjoying quick, tasty meals or taking home multiple containers of greatness.

This place just has the Tasty Factor™, and it also happens to have very good aqua frescas. Food ranges from burritos to tacos to one of our favorite Chile relleno burritos in the area. You would do well to get that burrito, plus crispy, soft, and cheesy quesadillas with spicy red salsa.
