Let’s settle this. Angleton might not be Houston’s dining hub, but that doesn’t mean it’s short on standout spots. You’ll find everything from Texas-style barbecue joints that smoke their brisket for 16 hours, to family-run Tex-Mex cantinas that have been serving enchiladas since the 1980s, to modern Southern kitchens putting creative spins on chicken-fried steak. So whether you’re a local or just passing through, here are Angleton’s essential restaurants.
El Gran Sabor
$ | WEBSITE

El Gran Sabor has been a fantastic food truck in that part of Angleton that’s definitely sort of Elkins (but maybe also Angleton proper) since it opened, and it shows. From the casual setup with string lights, picnic tables, and Mexican flags, to the menu loaded with street tacos and quesabirra pizza, El Gran Sabor hasn’t changed much since it started, and sometimes, that’s exactly what you’re looking for. Do they have Birria pizzadillas and gluten-free options? You bet. Are they good?
Sure—mostly because they’re made with El Gran Sabor’s fresh, flavorful ingredients. Those ingredients are great on their own, too (especially in the affordable combos), so get some for your group, plus a few drinks from the cooler, and enjoy the live music.
Don Jose
$ | (979) 331-3935 | WEBSITE

We used to love grabbing Don Jose’s standout breakfast tacos for a quick bite, even if it meant rushing through our morning commute. Well, now you can sit down and enjoy this family-owned operation’s Mexican breakfasts at their Angleton location, where you can start the day with machacados, huevos ala mexicana, and their signature tacos made with fresh tortillas that don’t get soggy.
Our go-to’s are the beef enchiladas and the quesadilla with homemade tortillas, both of which come paired with a delicious green salsita.
Starbucks
$$ | (979) 583-1539 | WEBSITE

Starbucks is a cozy coffee haven in Angleton with a long leather booth outfitted with charging ports, perfect for diffusing the stress of someone who just fought morning traffic. Maybe the friendly atmosphere is why this popular spot is so good at welcoming laptop warriors and study groups. Many drinks on its varied menu are impressively consistent, from the Frappuccinos to the croissant with bacon that’s often delicious.
The baristas like Amaya and Danielle are sweet and knowledgeable, always ready with a smile and helpful suggestions. It’s a cool place to relax with a laptop or grab a quick coffee, though the drink carriers could use some improvement since larger sizes tend to fall over easily. Despite that small issue, it remains a highly rated spot where most drinks are well-made and the service is outstanding.
La Casona Mexican Restaurant
$ | (979) 848-9979 | WEBSITE

This reliable Mexican restaurant tucked away in Angleton has rescued us from dinner indecision more times than I can count. It’s a solid choice when we’re craving something satisfying after a long day or when we don’t want to break the bank for a full meal out. La Casona consistently delivers with their tasty nachos and refreshing frozen margaritas for around $15-20.
Arby’s
$ | (979) 549-0100 | WEBSITE

Meet the reliable fast-food anchor of Angleton. Conveniently located with a huge parking lot, you can swing by for a quick meal anytime—just expect the service to be consistently fast even during quiet hours. The main attraction at this family-friendly spot is its standout Greek Gyros, praised for their amazing taste and prepared with care. Choose your order—the staff accommodates special requests with excellent service—and they assemble it with efficiency.
Pro tip: If you have dietary restrictions or need wheelchair accessibility, Arby’s makes it easy with its courteous approach.
Lisa’s Custom Confections
$ | (832) 802-1732 | WEBSITE

Lisa’s Custom Confections is one of the few bakeries in Angleton that’s not just a place to order a cake, but an actual dessert destination. The shop got a lot of local buzz for its photogenic designs and perfectly matched themes, but its moist, flavorful cakes are what make it a Texas baking staple. It’s also the main focus of the menu, available in various styles, from birthday parties to weddings.
If you’re especially celebratory, go with the Custom Tiered Cake, a fully designed centerpiece that includes multiple flavors, intricate decorations, and buttercream frosting, plus a consultation for personalizing.
Angleton Seafood Restaurant
$ | (979) 308-4500 | WEBSITE

Angleton Seafood Restaurant is a local seafood spot that sits right in the heart of Angleton, offering delicious fried shrimp at affordable prices with friendly service from the staff. The main attraction here is the bold garlic/Asian style crawfish, which comes in generous portions with a spicy kick that makes for a great alternative to what you’d find in Houston.
Aside from the amazing crawfish, try the red snapper and jumbo shrimp with veggies and the really good grilled shrimp that taste fresh and perfectly cooked. Angleton Seafood also runs Saturday Specials with discounts for Seniors and Veterans, making it a clutch option for a weekend seafood feast. With a spacious seating area and plenty of parking, it’s a welcoming spot with attentive staff and accommodating owners, even if the restrooms could use a bit more attention.
Dot To Dot Baking
$ | (979) 398-5368 | WEBSITE

Tucked along Hwy 35 just off the bypass, Dot To Dot Baking is a welcoming, family-friendly bakery that’s become a local favorite for sweet treats and quick bites. While everything from the cupcakes to the brownies hits the spot, we always make a beeline for their specialty sandwiches, especially the 4 cheese grilled cheese. The perfectly melted blend on buttery bread is as good a reason as any to pull off the highway and take a break from the road.
Roadhouse Bar
$ | (979) 799-5114 | WEBSITE

For a laid-back night out in Angleton, the casual Roadhouse Bar is our go-to. The lively karaoke nights here are popular enough to draw a diverse crowd, and the digital jukebox pumps out everything from country to metal. We prefer to spend a little extra and order from the full bar, which offers great beer prices and daily specials. If you want something more substantial, the pool tables and electronic dart boards are very solid, too.
Culture Coffee Tx
$ | (713) 702-1301 | WEBSITE

For a coffee spot in Surfside Beach that does a bit of everything well—the Carrissa drink, mermaid, iced vanilla latte, and iced chai, you name it—Culture Coffee Tx is your place. This beachside spot tries to transport you far away from its casual surroundings by creating a cute beachside vibe that attracts guests in off the street. Whether or not it works is up to you, but we appreciate the attention to detail that’s also seen in the drinks.
Culture Coffee Tx’s Carrissa has a subtle extra shot kick that we love, the iced vanilla latte is just the right middle ground between sweet and strong, and their signature mermaid is topped with generous toppings that complement its perfectly balanced flavor.
El Patio
$ | (979) 864-4400 | WEBSITE

El Patio is a welcoming Mexican restaurant in Angleton with consistently delicious dishes, but the real standout is what they serve alongside them. Their excellent beef fajitas come with that perfect char from the grill, and the Carne Asada has a hint of an El Salvadorian touch. The green sauce and hot sauce packed on the side are fresh and flavorful, and we like ours with a big scoop of those charro beans.
And if you don’t want to commit to a full platter, you can taste the same delicious ingredients in smaller portions like tacos filled with that same premium beef.
Sno Crush
$ | (979) 308-4484 | WEBSITE

The scent of grilled cheeseburgers and sweet snow cone syrup wafting through the air at Sno Crush tells you you’re in for a fun, casual meal. This family-friendly spot in Angleton makes delicious comfort food classics, like the creative snow cones in both innovative and traditional flavors and the perfectly grilled cheeseburgers packed with juicy goodness. If you’re at Sno Crush for a quick bite, get the corn in a cup.
One of the town’s great snacks, it’s generously topped with savory seasonings and melted cheese for double the flavor, and perfectly complemented by their tasty tacos.
Elite Nutrition
$ | (979) 331-3946 | WEBSITE

Fun fact: Elite Nutrition serves up the tastiest loaded teas in town (yes, really) as well as consistently filling nutritional products. This local spot has become the go-to destination in Angleton, but we love the cozy, clean environment that makes every visit feel welcoming. Come here to forget about the day’s stresses with a loaded tea and kid-friendly options that keep everyone happy.
Elite Nutrition’s family-like treatment from the owners is a hit, too, backed by amazing service and wheelchair accessibility.
Taqueria Nanas #1
$ | (979) 308-1565 | WEBSITE

Something about Taqueria Nanas #1’s vibrant, authentic Mexican decor and charming gift shop feels like they belong in a bustling mercado south of the border, which isn’t the worst contrast for a place tucked away in Angleton. This casual spot is one of the standout Mexican restaurants in town and a reliable destination to find solid fajitas and tacos throughout the day.
The Parrillada for 1 is grilled until perfectly charred, and the flavorful Birria Tacos make for a satisfying meal with the restaurant’s fresh, prompt service. If you’re the type whose mouth waters at the mention of top-notch Mexican cuisine, this is your kind of place.
Runway Cafe
$ | (979) 849-5160 | WEBSITE

Tucked right on the ramp at Angleton’s small airport, Runway Cafe is often used as a pit stop between watching planes taxi and take off. In the most complimentary way possible, we see Runway Cafe as a cozier alternative to typical airport dining. This casual sit-down spot serves up hearty meals, all of which feature the cafe’s fresh ingredients, like perfectly grilled fish and fried catfish that delivers a satisfying crunch.
Their burgers are juicy, flavorful, and substantial—not even in the same category as the bland ones found at most chain diners.
Kenjo’s Barbecue Angleton
$ | (979) 946-4134 | WEBSITE

It’s fun to go to Kenjo’s Barbecue with a big group and eat in what feels like a rustic Texas smokehouse, even though there aren’t any actual smokehouses in Angleton. There’s usually a wait here, but time moves quickly when you have one of Kenjo’s generous portions of brisket in hand (ask for it fatty and they’ll throw in some extra bark as well). You’ll also probably end up eating too many warm nachos before the main course arrives, but that’s all part of the experience.
Everyone seems to like the Monster Porkchop, but we recommend a combination plate involving brisket grilled cheese, Texas Twinkie, or mac and cheese.
Damifino
$ | (979) 308-4223 | WEBSITE

Damifino is rightfully beloved. This laid-back neighborhood spot has been serving some of the best casual hangout vibes in town for years, and continues to draw regulars who appreciate its unpretentious charm. The pool table area here is central to the experience (we prefer to call it “the social hub”), but the friendly atmosphere is what truly defines it. As soon as you arrive, order a cold beer (it costs about $5-7) and grab a cue stick for a relaxed game.
We also typically opt for chatting with the welcoming staff, especially Alyssa and Star, who make everyone feel right at home.
The Crust Pizzeria
$ | (979) 331-3035 | WEBSITE

The menu at this hidden gem pizzeria in Angleton hasn’t changed much since the place became a local favorite, and we consider that one of its best qualities. The signature dish is the Supreme pizza, but sometimes we deviate and order either Cheesy bread with jalapenos or Meat Lovers. And, aside from the solid food, The Crust Pizzeria is dependably welcoming.
Expect live music, a brick oven production zone in the main dining area, and a cocktail menu that includes the Santana’s Paloma that will arrive right at your table.
