Much of life in Beaumont is built on the reassuring foundation of mistakes. That overcooked steak. That overpriced cocktail. That under-seasoned gumbo. Everyone makes mistakes in Beaumont, and one of them might well be spending more than five minutes at a mediocre table. All in all, this corner of Texas is a bit industrial and a little bit humid, but everyone deserves at least one good (slash delicious) memory here.
And if you don’t have a happy memory of it, then that’s where these restaurants come in.
Crumbl – Beaumont
$$ | (409) 240-0023 | WEBSITE

Nothing makes us feel quite as content as a spot like Crumbl Cookies in Beaumont. It has a welcoming, kid-friendly atmosphere that feels just right for families, and arguably the friendliest staff in town who are particularly generous with samples. The headliner semi-sweet chocolate chip cookies—soft-centered, crispy-edged delights baked to perfection—are essential, and we also have a real soft spot for the variety of flavors and generous cookie sizes that offer great value.
With easy parking and a clean, well-maintained space, Crumbl is highly recommended for anyone craving delicious cookies.
Red’s Icehouse
$ | (409) 223-1557 | WEBSITE

Red’s Icehouse, a seafood spot in Beaumont, serves some of the best crawfish in SETX. A perfect bite includes a little bit of everything: perfectly seasoned crawfish, a tender boiled shrimp, a piece of mushroom from the shrimp dish, and the edges of a crispy fried item from the seafood platter, all enjoyed with a cold drink.
The common thread between the weekend evenings, weekday visits, and atmosphere is fun, and a lively weekend meal should always be headlined by the seafood platter while watching the Houston Astros on the large screen TVs.
Chili’s Grill & Bar
$ | (409) 832-1253 | WEBSITE

No other spot around Beaumont captures the effortless, slightly casual but also reliably satisfying dining style of this Texas town quite like Chili’s Grill & Bar. Head to the bustling grill for a delightful plate of potato soup with garlic bread, or a hearty black bean burger and old timer hamburger, and pretend you’re settling in for a classic American meal with all the familiar comforts.
It’s where you should go when you’re trying to convince the person you’re dining with (or yourself) that you want a straightforward, friendly experience with good taste in classic dishes, where the staff like Catherine and Jessi show genuine care even during the busy rushes, and you can finish with that warm skillet chocolate chip cookie that feels like a little reward.
Waffle House
$ | (409) 842-0860 | WEBSITE

A Beaumont staple, this American diner serves reliably satisfying eggs, biscuits, and hash browns. Thanks to the efficient open kitchen and friendly banter between staff, it has that classic roadside feel, but with service this consistent, it works just as well for a solo breakfast as for fueling up when you’ve got friends in town who need a quick, hearty meal.
Mellow Mushroom Beaumont
$ | (409) 347-6469 | WEBSITE

Mellow Mushroom is the kind of great casual spot that makes you want to live just down the street, and find a way to make sure that the staff never let anyone else snag your favorite outdoor table on a sunny afternoon. The food here is broadly pizza-focused with creative topping combinations and an extensive beer selection, which sets it apart from most other casual dining spots in this part of town.
Taste of China
$ | (409) 838-1688 | WEBSITE

Every time we’re in Beaumont with someone who hasn’t been here before and they decide they want Chinese food, we head to Taste of China Xpress. Although it’s a modest spot, this place makes super flavorful dishes involving fresh ingredients and, we don’t know, care—but it tastes excellent, especially the sweet and sour chicken.
MacKenzie’s Pub
$ | (409) 866-2288 | WEBSITE

Beaumont can get pretty lively on weekends. Lots of music, lots of chatter, and lots of folks looking for a good time. If you’re searching for a spot to unwind with friends, head to MacKenzie’s Pub. This local favorite has been serving pub classics and cold drinks to the regulars and newcomers of southeast Texas for years, and it’s a welcoming space that’s perfect for groups but also full of solo visitors during live music nights. You won’t be blown away, but you will be quite content.
Sweet Basil Vietnamese Noodle House
$ | (409) 347-7594 | WEBSITE

Sweet Basil Vietnamese Noodle House is a peaceful Vietnamese noodle spot that’s a good place to know about when you find yourself in Beaumont and want to get clear of the usual chain restaurant hustle as soon as possible. You should get involved in one of their signature rib eye pho bowls, and some of their fresh spring rolls, plus a side order of hot mess fries—a satisfying crispy, savory, and slightly spicy situation—and several glasses of iced jasmine tea.
The atmosphere is kid-friendly and relaxed, with warm lighting and simple wooden tables that make it easy to settle in. While the meals run around $15-20 per person, which feels slightly pricey for the portion sizes, the quality and flavor make it a worthwhile experience. The service is generally good, though some staff members could polish their presentation a bit. Don’t skip the sweet banh bao for dessert—it’s a must-try.
Sachi’s Cakes and Desserts Lab
$ | (409) 554-0577 | WEBSITE

On Sachi’s menu of exceptional baked goods, the star of the show is the sopapilla cheesecake that’s so rich and so perfectly decadent that we’d brave even the longest weekend line. It’s one of the best spots for a deeply satisfying dessert fix. This Beaumont gem has a cozy lab-like setup—the front counter displays the day’s creations and the seating area is where we’d go for a treat that starts with a Korean corn dog and ends with ube basque cheesecake.
It’s a popular place so plan ahead and come with a sweet tooth.
Struggle Street Brewing
$$ | (409) 299-9299 | WEBSITE

The slider combo is a special thing. And Struggle Street’s gourmet burger is not only veteran-owned, but it has some seriously outstanding pairings. One juicy, substantial beef patty, a generous portion of melted cream cheese, plenty of those grilled jalapeños with sweet jam, and caramelized onions to top it all off. This burger laughs in the face of the standard pub fare. And we laugh in the face of anyone who hasn’t been to this laid-back brewery spot.
Jo Jo’s China Bistro
$ | (409) 892-9119 | WEBSITE

This reliable Chinese bistro has been serving Beaumont since the early 2000s and operates as a sort of refuge for locals who want to experience authentic flavors without pretense. Perfectly crisp egg rolls are passed across tables, gentle traditional music plays from the speakers, and any lingering aromas from the truly satisfying General Tso’s chicken are happily embraced.
The food is consistently fresh with the moderate, well-balanced portion presentation favored by quality Chinese kitchens everywhere.
