Kirkland—a Montreal suburb where historic stone homes meet modern condos, home to some of Quebec’s most diverse dining, and final destination for a culinary scene that’s going everywhere. While some might dismiss it as just another West Island neighborhood, Kirkland (and its chefs) would passionately disagree—this vibrant community boasts its own distinct flavor and a restaurant lineup that demands attention.
Starbucks
$ | (514) 426-3005 | WEBSITE

If you think you’ve tried every great coffee shop in Kirkland, make sure you’ve visited the Starbucks inside Provigo before you make up your mind. This grocery-store-located spot—which has been serving consistently excellent drinks with fast service for years—specializes in morning perfection, with a top-notch staff that ensures 100% accurate orders every time. It might seem like just another Starbucks, but your first visit here will be a genuinely welcoming experience.
You can grab a classic latte to keep things simple, or try one of their seasonal specialties to mix it up. All of them are fantastic with their fresh pastries, a comforting treat that pairs perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere. While the upstairs location might require careful navigation, the quality of both drinks and food makes it completely worthwhile.
Sushi Shop
$$ | (514) 674-0868 | WEBSITE

When you walk into Sushi Shop, you might feel the urge to say things like “itadakimasu” and take pictures of the neatly arranged sushi platters. That’s because this restaurant has a comfortable, air-conditioned atmosphere where the staff handles the steady flow of orders with practiced efficiency. Most people come here for fresh and tasty sushi, with the platters being a popular choice for groups, but there are also a couple of quieter spots that work well for a quick, satisfying meal.
Beyond its consistency, you should visit Sushi Shop for the reliably good sushi that delivers on flavor. Our favorite choice is their fresh salmon nigiri, which arrives with perfectly seasoned rice and tender, high-quality fish.
Pizza Hut
$ | (514) 630-9091 | WEBSITE

Pizza Hut is a welcoming neighborhood spot with bright lighting, clean tables, and that familiar cheesy aroma that hits you as soon as you walk in. The straightforward pizza menu is a reliable choice, specializing in customizable pies, vegetarian options, and all the classic toppings.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick slice at lunch or ordering a whole pie for a pizza party, everything here is consistently fresh and generously topped, with lots of crowd-pleasing options like a veggie supreme and pepperoni pizza we could order weekly. The team’s friendly service, from taking initiative on orders to providing timely updates, makes it a place we return to just about every time we crave pizza.
La Dolce Vita gelato cafe shop
$$ | (514) 695-3212 | WEBSITE

La Dolce Vita is a Montreal gem for gelato lovers. They’ve been serving incredible gelato and sorbet with an awesome assortment of flavors that keeps people coming back. Although there might be a line when you visit, if you’re cool with grabbing a cone to go (which you should be), just step right up when you’re ready. The menu is extensive, but you smart ones go straight for the dark chocolate.
It’s divine, and though it might seem counterintuitive to get chocolate gelato when there are so many fruit options, trust me on this one. Now isn’t the time to hold back. But save room for another scoop. Everything from the hazelnut to the mango peach is worth trying, and the sugar-free vanilla is surprisingly good too. With plenty of parking and a kid-friendly atmosphere, this place makes for a perfect sweet stop.
Little Caesars Pizza
$ | (514) 630-7357 | WEBSITE

Kirkland has plenty of pizza joints, from the basic Domino’s to the more artisanal Pizza Pizza, but none of them are quite like Little Caesars Pizza, a straightforward Westside spot that specializes in affordable and quick pizza options. Make a beeline for anything with the classic crispy-yet-soft crust, including the flavourful sauce that never overpowers, fresh and generous toppings, and perfectly executed vegetarian options.
And if you decide you just want to stay home and order takeout, Little Caesars has you covered, too—the kitchen puts as much care into delivery staples like pepperoni and cheese pizzas as they do their customized creations, with the friendly staff always accommodating special requests.
Restaurant Boustan
$ | (514) 695-9999 | WEBSITE

Kirkland is packed with great dining spots, but if you want the best introduction to shawarma, make Boustan your first destination. The Egyptian-owned restaurant has been a local favorite for years and does Lebanese staples perfectly. There are always at least a few regulars at the clean tables enjoying pita wraps and scooping fresh avocado sauce from neat portions. It’s ideal for a quick weekday meal, but during peak hours, expect a short wait for service.
Get the chicken shawarma pita, the mixed plate with beef and chicken, and their signature poutine, guaranteed to spoil all other poutine for you.
Sushi Hanami
$$ | (514) 694-8668 | WEBSITE

We first discovered Sushi Hanami after hearing friends rave about their all-you-can-eat sushi, and our dining routine hasn’t been the same since. This relaxed restaurant offers an impressive variety of high-quality sushi options made with incredibly fresh fish and warm, soft rice. Their standard menu includes everything from traditional sushi rolls and marinated mango to delicious soups and vegetarian options like cucumber and avocado rolls.
If you manage to visit during a quieter time, ask one of the attentive staff members to guide you through their varied selection before the popular items run out.
Mundo Trattoria
$$$ | (514) 696-7887 | WEBSITE

Mundo Trattoria is pretty special. Located in Kirkland with plenty of parking spots and wheelchair accessibility, they serve Italian food that feels connected to a vibrant neighborhood spot. The salmon tartare and beef cheeks are highlights—especially the lobster ravioli—but the best thing here might be the tagliatelle bolognese. Tagliatelle bolognese is as good as it sounds, and even better served with the lively atmosphere on Fridays and Saturdays when they host live music and entertainment.
This place is a great choice for special nights out or work functions, but be warned: the charming atmosphere during quieter times might make you want to stay longer than planned.
Aya Lebanese restaurant
$$$$ | (514) 739-4000 | WEBSITE

When it comes to authentic Lebanese dining in Montreal, people might direct you to bustling spots in the Plateau, trendy fusion places downtown, or casual shawarma joints scattered throughout the city. But we love Aya Lebanese Restaurant, a welcoming, family-like establishment in Kirkland that has been impressing diners for years.
We adore the elegant yet inviting modern decor, the warm lighting throughout the space, and the stunning newly updated outdoor terrace that makes every meal feel special. Still, the highlight is the food, prepared with noticeable care and high-quality, fresh ingredients (even the complimentary starters here taste like they were just made). The tantalizing tabouleh and hummus with beef tenderloin are excellent, and the perfectly cooked filet mignon and shish taouk are among the best in the region.
Our sole quibble is that the wine list could be more extensive, though that’s never kept us from enjoying a wonderful bottle with our meal.
Harvey’s
$ | (514) 697-8729 | WEBSITE

Harvey’s in the West Island is a beloved burger chain that delivers reliable fast food without cutting corners. There’s a classic hamburger meal with crispy fries and soda that hits the spot every time, a grilled chicken salad for something lighter, and solid vegetarian options that actually satisfy. Don’t overlook the kid menu, which makes this a go-to for families.
The recently renovated interior is clean and bright, though some regulars still prefer grabbing their meal to enjoy by the riverside. Service is consistently friendly and bilingual, even during the lunch rush, and the new mobile ordering option lets you skip the line. At around $12 for a combo meal, it’s affordable comfort food done right.
Toujours Mikes
$$ | (514) 695-8720 | WEBSITE

Toujours Mikes is a wonderful, slightly cozy French-Canadian restaurant in Kirkland that’s perfect for intimate meals where you want to focus on a few well-executed dishes. We love their limited seasonal offerings like the cream of lobster soup, which varies each day but always comes rich and velvety and served with a warm crusty baguette.
It’s the main dishes, however, that should be filling your bowl, including the lobster bisque with its deep savory broth, the seasonal soup with fresh herbs, and one of the most comforting bowls of soup ever paired with buttery bread rolls. Toujours Mikes is good for a quiet evening, too—there’s a relaxed dining room serving mostly wine and beer, and for takeout, soups packaged perfectly for home enjoyment.
B12 BURGER Kirkland
$ | (514) 558-1000 | WEBSITE

At B12 BURGER Kirkland, you’ll encounter burgers that sound straightforward in concept, but taste exceptionally satisfying in execution. Alongside classic favorites like chicken wings and fried chicken, this neighborhood gem offers generous portions that layer real, non-processed ingredients onto super-soft buns. The Double Dose burger in particular is a masterpiece, stacked with juicy patties, crisp toppings, and just enough special sauce to create an explosion of savory flavors.
Dip any leftover fries into their amazing onion rings, which you can (and should) order as a side. There’s plenty of parking in the free lot, but most families take their orders home or to a nearby backyard, where they can relax comfortably and ponder what other delicious comfort foods should grace their table next.
Pizza Select
$ | (514) 697-0808 | WEBSITE

Pizza Select is a small, family-owned spot tucked away in Kirkland, mainly a takeout place with just a tiny table for four if you want to eat in. As much as we love grabbing a quick slice elsewhere, this is our go-to for all things pizza and wings: homemade pies, all dressed subs, and those incredible saffron meatballs. You’ll technically be sitting at a simple table in a clean, no-frills space, but you’ll feel like you’re in a cozy kitchen.
Our top pick is the large pizza special—pepperoni, bacon, and mushrooms on a crust with really good sauce—for about eighteen bucks on promo days.
Amir
$ | (514) 674-2020 | WEBSITE

Amir is a rare find for Kirkland—a quick-service Lebanese spot that doubles as a cozy destination for a satisfying meal. This restaurant on the main strip has a welcoming dining area where you can grab a shawarma sandwich to go, but it’s also perfect for lingering over a generous chicken plate. It’s often filled with families, office workers on lunch breaks, and regulars who appreciate the friendly vibe.
The well-rounded menu has a solid mix of shawarma, shish taouk, and falafel, but it’s the perfectly balanced flavors that stand out. The chefs showcase their expertise with every dish, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the food at Amir arrives fresh, delicious, and packed with care.
Corrilla
$ | (514) 428-9000 | WEBSITE

Corrilla isn’t just one of the best Korean restaurants in Kirkland, it’s one of our go-to spots in the whole area. Open daily with reliable hours, this compact eatery focuses on satisfying comfort food like grilled pork with noodles and crispy fried chicken, but it’s their signature fried chicken plate that we’ll happily navigate even the busiest of afternoons to enjoy. You can opt for the grilled pork with rice or noodles, but we recommend trying the combination plate for the full experience.
It’s not really designed for large gatherings, so most patrons just swing by with a companion for a hearty lunch or early dinner.
Subway
$ | (514) 693-0235 | WEBSITE

Kirkland’s most reliable (and only) Subway franchise has a little something for everyone. From a classic veggie patty sandwich prepared with care to a fresh sub loaded with crisp vegetables, this location isn’t afraid to let quality ingredients be the stars. Its small dining area has such a comfortable atmosphere, you’ll feel like you’re eating in a neighborhood spot. But if you’d rather grab and go, Subway’s clean counter service is the perfect backdrop for a quick lunch.
Stop by during busy hours to take advantage of the owner’s hands-on coaching and consistent customer experience.
Le Vieux Four Manago KIRKLAND
$$ | (514) 428-0100 | WEBSITE

The wood-fired pizza at this local favorite is a beautiful hybrid of Neapolitan and Quebecois styles, with a charred, blistered crust that crackles under pressure and those smoky, bubbled edges we crave. The standout pie on the menu is the classic margherita, topped with fresh mozzarella, basil, and a tangy tomato sauce that sings with simplicity. They also serve a robust penne arrabiata on the side, a spicy pasta dish so vibrant it’s best enjoyed right at the table rather than saved for later.
Tucked into a shopping complex, Le Vieux Four Manago makes for a delightful (yet unpretentious) dinner destination, or a casual spot you can recommend to friends from across the south shore without hesitation.
