Merrimack’s dining scene satisfies a very specific desire. Not necessarily one of culinary perfection, but rather reliable satisfaction and local charm. Flour Garden Bakery NH
$$ | (603) 600-2795 | WEBSITE

This pleasant bakery in Merrimack is originally from Concord. And while some dishes like the filet mignon and Thai salad aren’t very memorable, their pumpkin cupcakes are, and overall, their fall offerings are pretty great. For $18, you get your choice of pumpkin coffee cake or a seasonal cupcake with the purchase of a meal. They also have a deluxe deal for $28, which comes with all of the above plus eggplant Parmigiana and a specialty coffee.
The atmosphere is ideal for group gatherings with minimal noise, especially on nice early fall evenings when you can enjoy the outdoor seating—though note that dogs aren’t allowed on the patio, but there’s a take-out spot where pets can wait outside. The menu has mostly stayed the same since Covid-19 ended, with prices on the higher side, and while the service is friendly and attentive, some diners hope for more new options soon.

They have excellent oat milk and almond milk options, and a certain iced latte that derails our morning plans more often than we’d care to admit.
And if you swing by their simple, functional drive-thru during the afternoon rush, you can do some very practical research to see whether that iced latte tastes better before or after a twenty-minute wait in line. You only get limited drink availability toward closing, though, so—in the name of efficiency—plan ahead.
