Brunch at First Watch is a quick, efficient affair. Whether that’s because of the friendly staff who always keep things moving, or the inevitable desire to get on with your day once you step inside this Mount Pleasant spot, it doesn’t really matter. It’s probably a bit of both, and that’s what makes this brunch destination so reliable.
The bright, clean interior, the excellent—and huge—million dollar bloody Mary, and the not-too-expensive coffee drinks that are a cause for satisfaction in and of themselves.
MI LINDO OAXACA TAQUERIA
$ | (843) 696-2340 | WEBSITE

This authentic Mexican food truck in Mount Pleasant is genuinely impressive. And the food is absolutely delicious too. Portions of perfectly seasoned beef tacos with fresh onions and cilantro look substantial enough to be served at a sit-down restaurant and the sauce-topped big-plate tamales are comforting and definitely too big for one. Which is good news because parking and seating are plentiful.
Whether you’re sitting at one of the few tables in the parking lot or enjoying the diverse mix of people from various cultures, it feels like you’re experiencing extraordinary Mexican cuisine.

This premier dining destination in Mount Pleasant, with its inviting and refined atmosphere, suits all kinds of situations—a relaxed evening out or a special occasion. But given the warm hospitality from Olivia and the accommodating manager, we always want to dine here as a group—friends or not.
This spot prides itself on feeling like an upscale charm away from home.
TIERRA AL MAR
$$ | (843) 971-6013 | WEBSITE

We know, we know. You’ve had your share of Mexican food around here before. But that’s because this place knows its way around a casual yet elevated meal. There are juicy steak nachos, there’s crispy patatas bravas, there’s fresh air, and we love it all. The restaurant has a charming indoor ambiance, but the outdoor seating feels the cosiest. With plenty of parking and a homemade margarita that requires sipping, it’s perfect for a family gathering.
The menu has something for everybody, but the thing you really won’t want to miss is the subtle smoky salsa.
Agaves Cantina
$$ | (843) 606-2032 | WEBSITE

We haven’t met a dish at this Mexican restaurant that we didn’t love. Everything is outstanding, from the fajitas to the enchiladas, to the most flavorful Chili Verde you’ll probably ever taste. Plus, the generous portions are perfect for sharing, which means your food envy can take a break.
They’ve got that modern Mexican chic vibe with cozy lighting and rustic décor—but if you’re coming with friends, we’d recommend grabbing one of their larger tables where Ciro’s quick, attentive service really shines through.
Jasmine Thai Kitchen
$$ | (843) 388-7178 | WEBSITE

Jasmine Thai Kitchen is a cozy, picture-adorned Thai restaurant in Mount Pleasant where dinner is the most satisfying meal of the evening. Order a spread of creamy Tom Kha soup with tender chicken, pad Thai with fresh shrimp, and crispy spring rolls with a tangy dipping sauce. We also usually go for the dumplings, and start dipping and savoring until all the plates are empty.
Lola Rose
$$ | (843) 388-7940 | WEBSITE

The quiet charm of Mount Pleasant might not be what you expect from a Mediterranean hotspot, but the energy inside Lola Rose is the vibrant kind. Watch Margarita Pizzas being slid into the wood-fired stove, and see staff glide through the open kitchen with practiced ease. A lively buzz fills the clean, trendy dining room and tables share plates from the varied menu—like excellent Tuna Tartare and flavorful Shrimp Provencal—without hesitation.
Snag one of the larger tables if you’re with friends, but if it’s just two then the counter seating lets you take in all the action.
Steel City Pizza
$ | (843) 856-2525 | WEBSITE

Steel City Pizza in Mount Pleasant is best-known for its brilliant variety and accommodating service—for good reason. People travel far and wide to get a gluten-free crust with vegan cheese, or veggie pepperoni. Veggie meatballs—so savory, so hearty, and just a little spicy—taste like they’ve been crafted with care.
The options are all inclusive, and although there’s limited seating in the small arcade area, you’re only a short stroll away from the coloring sheets where families can make a celebration out of it.
Sesame Burgers & Beer
$ | (843) 884-5553 | WEBSITE

In a charming corner of Mount Pleasant, Sesame Burgers & Beer is a neighborhood spot with a bright, casual interior featuring wood accents and comfortable seating. Unlike a lot of burger joints, you can usually find a table without much wait or enjoy the outdoor patio, making it perfect for a family outing. If it’s nice out, grab a seat outside with your blackbean burger—the menu has solid vegetarian options. Our highlight is the blackbean wrap with fresh salad and crispy fries.
And their beer selection, with plenty of local brews on tap, appeals to all tastes.
Wando River Grill
$$ | (843) 856-1267 | WEBSITE

This riverside restaurant in Mount Pleasant serves some seriously good seafood. Wando River Grill is a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal by the water in their outdoor area, with beer-battered fish and chips, grilled Mahi with Okonomiyaki, and braised short ribs all on the menu until closing. We’d opt for the fish and chips, some Mahi, and a slice of peanut butter pie on the side. It also stays open for dinner when you can get the full menu with drinks like the special papaya margarita.
