Maybe you’ve been eyeing that waterfront property listing, dreaming of palm-fringed patios. Or perhaps you’re just tired of your own kitchen after one too many meal-prep Sundays. Either way, you’re craving a night out in Oakland Park without draining your vacation fund. Here are 11 spots where the flavors shine brighter than your bank account’s remorse.
The Mason Jar Pub
$ | (954) 999-5324 | WEBSITE

When it comes to comfort food that delivers on flavor without breaking the bank, it’s hard to argue with the value of a hearty pub meal. But a lot of casual spots are something to be tolerated rather than celebrated. Thankfully, this isn’t the case at The Mason Jar Pub on Federal Highway. This spot focuses on satisfying classics, and has a standout Poblano Chicken Milanese sandwich for $15.
You’ll find a reliable lineup of favorites, including chicken Parmesan, pork chops, salmon, and Keylime pie. The sandwich doesn’t include a side, but that’s fine—you can use your appetite to order the brussels sprouts with pistachios or the off-the-chain onion rings instead.
Over Easy Cafe
$ | (954) 561-1177 | WEBSITE

Here’s the thing about breakfast – it’s delicious and comforting, but a full meal with all the fixings can add up quickly. Luckily there’s Over Easy Cafe in Wilton Manors, which serves very good home-cooked-style meals at affordable prices. But the best is their Colorado Jack scramble, which has that perfect piping hot temperature. This is a quick service operation, but there’s a clean dining room that feels a little like a neighborhood kitchen.
So grab a coffee and pretend you’re hanging out at a friend’s house.
Dunkin’
$ | (954) 485-7075 | WEBSITE

Dunkin’ is a reliable spot serving quick things for breakfast and beyond. You’ll find stuff like the everything bagel Egg Sausage sandwich and cafe con Leche – all ranging from $3-$8. It’s the kind of convenient food that will make you feel like a practical person, even if you spent your morning rushing to a meeting. They have many locations, but we prefer this Oakland Park space for its clean, tidy feel and available conference room.
La Casita Salvadoreña
$ | (954) 306-8784 | WEBSITE

La Casita Salvadoreña is a hidden gem in Oakland Park, and even though Florida has strong opinions regarding Latin cuisine, we’re really happy this spot is here. The dishes are all made fresh and served in generous portions, and they cost about $12 each (for a very satisfying meal). The chicken fajitas and pork chops in particular are pretty great – like the Lomo Saltado, which has incredible flavor.
They even have a warm and colorful atmosphere you can enjoy, but you should seriously consider trying everything.
Bombay Cafe – Best Indian Restaurant In Florida
$$ | (954) 568-0600 | WEBSITE

There’s a lot to like about Bombay Cafe in Fort Lauderdale. Not only is it authentic and consistently fresh, but everything on the extensive menu is delicious. That being said, we really love the tandoori dishes (you can get the Tandoori Chicken for $14.95, or the Lamb Chops for $18.50) and the very, very flavorful Tikka Masala curry (which is $15.75). You can come here on a weeknight for takeout, or on the weekend for a dine-in meal with family.
Basically, you should come here even when you’re not craving Indian food.
Richie’s Gourmet Italian Ices
$ | (954) 772-1183 | WEBSITE

Richie’s Gourmet Italian Ices is the kind of spot you’ll want to visit regularly. The setup is simple and efficient, with cheerful staff who greet you warmly (unlike some drive-throughs where you’re just a transaction). Drive-through or walk-up service makes it convenient for anyone, and the Italian ice is perfect for sharing with friends. Grab a cup of the watermelon Italian ice, and the coconut flavor – it’s refreshing enough to brighten any day.
Jugos La Hacienda
$ | (954) 588-7687 | WEBSITE

Jugos La Hacienda is a very clean and popular spot near a small farmer’s market in Oakland Park, so it’s understandable if you haven’t come across this place during your weekly grocery run or morning commute. They have a wide selection of delicious natural juices, including the favorite cucumber/lemon/chamoy green juice and antiflu juice, all priced around $5-9.
But our favorite things are the yummy snacks and fresh tropical paletas/popsicles – for example, the delicious ice cream and natural fresh ingredients, which both have a great amount of flavor.
Corinto Restaurant
$ | (954) 563-8800 | WEBSITE

If you’re tired of overpriced fusion spots with tiny portions, head to Corinto Restaurant. Corinto serves Latin-American diner fare – meaning hearty, flavorful plates at wallet-friendly prices. Come for the classics, like the praised beef, pork, and chicken entrees with sides of black beans and rice or fried plantains. The steak tacos – three to an order – are a must-try, and the spicy hot sauce builds its heat on the back end in a way that keeps you coming back.
It’s a simple, clean, family-owned spot where the staff’s friendliness matches the fresh, authentic flavors. Popular for breakfast and lunch with local workers, it’s the kind of cozy place where you’ll find yourself calling the Cuban sandwich the best in Oakland Park.
EL CARBONERO RESTAURANT
$ | (786) 803-4797 | WEBSITE

This casual restaurant in Oakland Park serves delicious tacos and pupusas, which start around $8, depending on what you get. But narrowing down your order might require some Good Will Hunting-level equations: the tacos come with options like chicken, beef, or vegetarian fillings, they’re available with corn or flour tortillas, and you can choose from toppings like cilantro, onions, or salsa.
So basically, the only danger here is panicking with indecision, ordering everything, and being late on rent as a result. Which might be the kind of behavior that got you into this trying-to-not-spend-money situation in the first place.
Living Green Cafe – Commercial
$ | (954) 771-9770 | WEBSITE

It might seem really sensible to stock up on kale and Greek yogurt to make healthy meals at home. But when you factor in the time spent prepping and the inevitable disappointment of your own cooking, you’re better off just going to Living Green Cafe – Commercial in Oakland Park for nourishing food instead. You can get the Tuna es Melting sandwich, the excellent Salmon, or the Broccoli and Macaroni & Cheese, and it’s all priced reasonably for the quality.
Whichever one(s) you choose will be fresh and delicious, and your order will come with a side of their friendly, attentive service. This place is great for private meetings, family dining, or just lunch with a few friends when you all want to eat as healthily as possible. Don’t leave without trying one of their green juices.
Escargot Bistro
$$ | (754) 206-4116 | WEBSITE

Escargot Bistro is a delightful French restaurant in Oakland Park whose menu consists of a focused selection of authentic dishes that includes escargot, coq au vin, and French onion soup. But these aren’t just French classics – they’re bold, memorable experiences on a plate. The escargot is prepared with garlic butter and herbs, the coq au vin features tender chicken in red wine sauce, and the French onion soup comes with a perfectly melted cheese crust.
The best part is that everything is made by the wife-chef with care and authenticity that shines through in every bite. The second best part is that you’ll spend around $25 for a three-course lunch that feels like a trip to Paris without the airfare.
