Before Qualicum Beach became a culinary destination for Vancouver Island foodies and drew chefs from across the Pacific Northwest, its dining scene was proudly local—nourished by island farms and generations of family recipes. So when we celebrate its restaurants, it’s like honoring the talented neighbors who’ve perfected their craft right here.
Sushi Wara
$$ | (250) 752-0301 | WEBSITE

There’s a lot going on at Sushi Wara. You’ll notice a clean, nicely decorated space with a central sushi bar, a cozy dining area with Japanese-inspired artwork, and ample free street parking right outside. But c’mon, would you really expect anything less from a top restaurant in Qualicum Beach? Somehow, though, the food makes it all come together.
The interesting spins on everyday sushi combos (the fresh salmon’s subtle flavor is amazing) and bento boxes (a respectable selection sits alongside flavorful miso soup and salad) prove to be some of the best dining decisions we’ve made recently. Couple all of that with fun Japanese sodas and the occasional family gathering (Wait, is that the whole soccer team?) and we see why this place keeps a crowd.
Fern + Cedar Brewing Company
$$ | (250) 594-0052 | WEBSITE

Even for Qualicum Beach, a brewery with a dog-friendly patio feels like a natural fit. But perhaps the owners were committed to the theme for Fern + Cedar, their restaurant and brewing company. Inside the vibrant space, stylish design elements create a welcoming atmosphere, which stands in sharp contrast to the casual dining experience outside. Expect to see nights filled with quality beer, well-prepared dishes, and a few furry companions.
The menu of tasty options like crispy cod and chips are decent—better than expected for a brewery setting.
Final Approach Restaurant
$$ | (250) 752-8966 | WEBSITE

Once upon a time, Qualicum Beach’s airport building housed a simple café with decent coffee and basic sandwiches. Then the Final Approach Restaurant took over the space, giving the dining area a modern upgrade, complete with an outdoor seating area overlooking the tarmac. You can still expect a reliably good meal—with the fish and chips being the star of the show. But now it’s the kind of spot to settle in with family for a long lunch or a casual dinner while watching planes take off and land.
The place gets crowded on weekends, so to avoid a wait, get there early (or as the friendly staff would say, right when they open).
Deez Bar & Grill
$$ | (250) 752-8055 | WEBSITE

As the only non-chain restaurant on the list, Deez Bar & Grill probably knew its cozy patio and real cuisine would attract a steady stream of locals and visitors alike. Similar to the best neighborhood spots, families and friends come out for $15 fish and chips, $18 pasta dishes, and warm interiors that mix rustic wood and comfortable seating.
When we’re done admiring the clean space and friendly, attentive service from the owner and staff, we’re ordering the iconic Friday special fish and chips, which comes in large, perfectly crispy pieces. Make the most of your meal (and money) by skipping the ordinary and sticking to the hearty classics like the amazing bolognese—rich and comforting like grandma’s recipe—or the excellent wings and roasted vegetables, where you’ll find the most flavor without any pretension.
LoveShack Libations
$ | (604) 319-2484 | WEBSITE

With a passion for bottle-conditioned brews, LoveShack Libations does live up to its reputation if you’re looking for a really good craft beer experience. You’ll find the cozy brewery tucked away in Qualicum Beach, only open on Wednesday nights and Saturdays. The beers here are made with meticulous care by the owner and range from solid to amazing across every taste test. The standout choice is the otter beer with its unique design and memorable flavor.
Order it during a tasting room visit, and enjoy mingling with other enthusiasts in an atmosphere that feels like a friendly house party. The staff makes everyone feel welcome, whether you’re a local or traveler, and you might leave with a cozy sweatshirt keepsake. It’s definitely worth making a special trip for this passion project brewery.
Bailey’s In The Village
$ | (250) 752-7584 | WEBSITE

Bailey’s In The Village has heart for serving up comfort food in a bustling Qualicum Beach cafe. Unfortunately (or fortunately for those seeking simple pleasures), some lunch options feel like a missed opportunity, overshadowing the good qualities of this family-friendly spot. The space is busy yet organized with enough cheerful smiles that you can simultaneously feel every bit of the inviting atmosphere. They’ve got a transcendent Jammer burger, and the owners and staff move fast.
But the lunch items arrive at the table bland and pizza comes topped with ingredients that probably went from fresh to family favorite right before you ordered it. Stick to the breakfast, like the perfect breakfast sandwich, patty melt, and coffee and cake.
Creekmore’s Coffee Roasting Co
$ | (250) 752-5343 | WEBSITE

When coffee lovers talk about must-visit spots on Vancouver Island, Creekmore’s Coffee Roasting Co. inevitably comes up in more conversations than just morning caffeine fixes. This Qualicum Beach gem pays homage to its craft with burlap sacks and roasting equipment on display, but luckily for visitors, its primary focus is serving expertly crafted drinks, delicious pastries, and welcoming service.
Try the perfectly balanced Iced Caramel Macchiato that delights long after you’ve finished your last sip. We’re still dreaming about the flaky croissant that pairs so well with their Americano Misto. The experience is so good you’ll want to linger, but by then, you’ll have to literally “brew up” another visit to Creekmore’s.
Weinberg’s Good Food

With mismatched mugs, folksy folk music, and crayon drawings on the walls, Weinberg’s Good Food sorta feels like every other Qualicum Beach coffee shop. The owners try to elevate their cozy spot with a toy box for kids and gluten-free options, but they’re also serving espresso drinks in paper cups, so the charm gets diluted. To their credit, though, the vegan chocolate chip cookie paired with a skillfully made cappuccino is a winner.
We’re just not sure that’s enough for you to ignore the sometimes-slow weekend service.
Qualicum Beach Cafe
$$ | (250) 752-8146 | WEBSITE

If you’re into ocean views and family-friendly menus, then by all means hit up the Qualicum Beach Cafe off the coast on a sunny day. We might reserve a table on a summer evening, so we can sip and savor in slightly more romantic conditions. Come then and you might score a seat on the beautiful patio just a stone’s throw from the sea, grab a $16 cocktail, and peruse a menu of fresh, crisp options (avocado toast with blueberry compote, anyone?).
But all jokes aside, there’s a sophistication to the delicious but terrific vegetarian choices. And the chicken Parmesan sandwich provides the sort of comfort you’ll happily want to come back to.
French Press Coffee Roasters
$ | (250) 594-4477 | WEBSITE

This community-focused coffee spot in Qualicum Beach has a simple menu of sandwiches, salads, and soups. But you should look past that standard lineup and try the carrot cake, which is likely perfected through whatever the bakers found inspiring in their local ingredients. That’s always the wiser move because, while the coffee here is bright and juicy, the regular vegetarian options are decent but not extraordinary.
And French Press’s use of quality components, like fresh vegetables and thoughtful preparations, helps to elevate the straightforward dishes and bring in some genuinely delicious flavor.
