Salisbury today is more of a summer tourist destination than a year-round dining hub. But even as this coastal town gets progressively more crowded with beachgoers, it’s undeniably one of the North Shore’s most charming spots to eat. Restaurants are tucked along Route 1A and near the beach, and some are even worth braving the summer traffic for. Here are the best places to eat in Salisbury.
Lena’s Seafood
$$ | (978) 465-8572 | WEBSITE

Seafood shacks can be overwhelming. The good news is, if you’re in Salisbury, you’re right next to Lena’s Seafood—a restaurant that, despite being near mini golf, isn’t kitschy. It’s just a solid place to eat, whether you’re with family or not. Most dishes are New England classics and involve lots of seafood.
We like to stick with the staples, like creamy clam chowder, crispy onion rings, and a generous seafood plate served with a small mountain of fries that’ll make you consider moving to the coast.
The Deck
$$ | (978) 499-4422 | WEBSITE

Lunch at this waterfront spot feels like a vacation, one where you’ll eat lobster BLTs piled high and cemita sandwiches bursting with flavor. The outdoor deck has weathered wooden planks that double as seating, colorful umbrellas, and so many boats bobbing in the marina you might wonder if you’ve wandered into a nautical postcard.
And although you may recognize the friendly waitstaff’s cheerful service, it’s uniquely Salisbury: perfect for casual gatherings, sunny afternoons, or whenever you want to enjoy excellent fish tacos with that legendary view of the drawbridge opening for ships.
Hideaway Pub
$ | (978) 462-2470 | WEBSITE

We’re always skeptical of hidden gem pubs in beach towns, so we were wary when we heard about Hideaway Pub in Salisbury. But the drinks are so good here, we wouldn’t care if they’re owned by a corporate chain (for the record, they’re not). This welcoming cash-only spot gets crowded on karaoke Wednesdays, but if you show up early, Allison might be able to show you to an open seat at the bar.
The cocktail menu features classics like pistachio martinis and frozen Walrus, but talk to the fantastic staff about what you like, and they’ll point you in the right direction.
Hodgies Too of Salisbury
$ | (978) 463-0214 | WEBSITE

A trip to this ice cream destination will cost you about $8 for a large cone, which is a reasonable indulgence for just about everybody in modern times. But if you’re in the market for a sweet treat or celebrating a sunny afternoon, Hodgies Too is a delightful place to do it. The menu stays consistent, but you can generally expect many meticulously crafted flavors ranging from salty caramel pecan to brownie batter with big brownie chunks.
Run by a friendly staff, a visit here feels less like a formal ice cream shop and more like hanging with people who happen to have a freezer full of deliciousness in their spacious, accessible spot.
Aroma Joe’s Coffee House
$ | (978) 255-4108 | WEBSITE

Cozy coffee spots might not be popping up on every corner in this town, but Salisbury does have Aroma Joe’s. The welcoming cafe is tucked into a charming storefront on the main drag and serves great coffee, a friendly crowd, and a convenient drive-through for those on the go. When you need a bite, just grab one of their biscuit sandwiches—they’re absolutely delicious.
Hungry Traveler
$$ | (978) 465-9743 | WEBSITE

Hungry Traveler is a welcoming, family-friendly seafood spot where you go to satisfy that craving for classic New England comfort after a day by the shore. Lobster roll specials arrive with a trip to the bustling salad bar, servers greet you with genuine smiles, and there’s a reliably casual atmosphere that makes it perfect for a laid-back lunch or dinner.
Prioritize the absolutely amazing clam chowder brimming with tender clams, the delicious crispy calamari with a satisfying crunch, and the hearty fish sandwiches that live up to the huge portions everyone raves about. It’s the kind of place where the food is consistently delicious, the staff is always pleasant and friendly, and you leave happily full without breaking the bank—a great option when you want straightforward, awesome seafood in a no-fuss setting.
Seaglass Restaurant and Lounge
$$ | (978) 462-5800 | WEBSITE

The ocean views at Seaglass might remind you of a classic New England coastal spot that rhymes with ‘Pier House,’ which is probably the point. This semi-hidden oceanfront lounge—located with literal panoramic windows facing the Atlantic—is one of Salisbury’s best destination dining experiences, so don’t be deterred by the occasional salt spray on the glass (or the premium for corner tables).
Around brunch time you’ll find a line of locals and tourists ordering plates of PEI Mussels, crab cakes, and lobster rolls, plus maybe a Sunday special or two. Join them and make sure to ask for a window seat.
Capri Seaside Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria
$$ | (978) 462-7543 | WEBSITE

Not even the generous portions can fill the cozy, bustling warmth inside this Italian kitchen by the sea. But if you can get past Capri Seaside’s unassuming exterior (or embrace it), this neighborhood spot reveals its authentic charms: a menu that satisfies whatever craving brought you through the door. That could be the standout meatball appetizer in the evening, a post-beach glass of chianti with hot, fresh calamari, or the melt-in-your-mouth veal saltimbocca during a family dinner celebration.
You’ll know you found the place once you catch the scent of garlic and herbs wafting from the kitchen.
Mapow
$ | (978) 499-7795 | WEBSITE

Mapow is the dictionary definition of “hidden gem.” This casual sushi and noodle spot is tucked away in Salisbury, but step inside and you’ll find a lovely, homey space with the welcoming vibe of a family-run place. The menu revolves around fresh, scratch-made rolls and noodles. You’ll find the spicy tuna and salmon rolls are a hit, as well as the Crazy Noodles and the Mango Rolls bursting with flavor.
Each of these fantastic dishes costs around $15–$18, but the fully loaded flavors and friendly, quick service make them feel like a steal. Despite a sometimes stuffy atmosphere, the delicious offerings—like the Pad Thai and Mango spring rolls—and the owner’s nice touch with dietary restrictions keep visitors planning to return.
Connie’s Stagecoach
$ | (978) 465-3543 | WEBSITE

It’s perfectly normal to think you’re the most satisfied person in Salisbury at Connie’s Stagecoach. You’ll dig into generous breakfast plates under a warm glow from overhead lights and eat classic American comfort food that injects heartiness into morning staples, like a chicken fried steak crowned with crispy home fries. Popular doesn’t translate to pretentious, though. The friendly chatter from regulars bounces off the ample seating, and the staff sneaks smiles into every interaction.
It’s all the warmth and consistency of a beloved local spot without compromising on the quality, so linger over your meal here for as long as your appetite permits.
Thai Zap
$$ | (978) 255-1660 | WEBSITE

Thai Zap is the standout restaurant in Salisbury, serving amazing dishes that exceed expectations. Having such high praise from the local community might seem like a tough standard, but Thai Zap is our favorite spot in town. This welcoming Thai restaurant in Salisbury is a model of consistency, serving deeply flavorful food that tastes incredible, with reliably great service and a cute, inviting space that still buzzes with the same energy it did when we first visited.
The menu is packed with hits, but if it’s your first time, prioritize the Crab Rangoon, Jumbo Shrimp Pad Thai, and Red Curry Chicken.
Good Fortune Restaurant
$ | (978) 462-0506 | WEBSITE

Good Fortune Restaurant in Salisbury feels like a Chinese dinner on the verge of turning into a full-blown celebration. Its warm dining room is full of happy families, clinking glasses, and a lively bar scene with great bartenders if you care to chat between rounds of dishes. The pork fried rice comes with fluffy, separate grains and generous portions, and while they don’t overload it with oil, you still get plenty of flavor from it.
Some of our favorites include the freshly cooked dishes, with clean ingredients and personable service, and the generous portions, with a fair price point and welcoming vibe.
Niko’s Place Roast Beef & Seafood
$ | (978) 463-8887 | WEBSITE

Salisbury has no shortage of casual seafood shacks vying for your attention with fried clam platters and lobster rolls. And, right now, Niko’s Place is the most satisfying spot of the bunch. This roast beef and seafood joint has been a local favorite for years as a reliable counter-service destination. Now they offer the full Niko’s Place experience with comfortable amenities.
The dining options include hearty roast beef sandwiches and fresh seafood plates for around $15-$25, and there’s a television in the dining area for entertainment. While some might miss the simpler takeout-only days of the past, dishes at the current Niko’s—tender roast beef, well-prepared seafood, and filling portions—are just as consistent and enjoyable as anything from the original.
Family Chineses Restaurant
$$ | (978) 463-4332 | WEBSITE

Family Chinese Restaurant has been a staple of Salisbury dining for years and remains one of the best spots in town. This Chinese eatery offers a lively bar area complete with a jukebox, sports on TV, and consistently friendly staff who make everyone feel welcome. They serve fantastic Crab Rangoons, perfectly-made steak teriyaki that’s juicy and delicious, and generously portioned lunch specials that provide excellent value for families and older patrons.
The atmosphere is nice and bustling, especially on weekends when the bar gets packed with regulars enjoying the scene. Snagging a table last-minute can be tricky during peak hours, so if you’re more spontaneous, just do what the locals do and arrive early to grab a seat at the bar for some sports viewing and those famous Crab Rangoons.
Winner’s Circle
$ | (978) 462-8994 | WEBSITE

This sprawling sports haven is the more family-friendly sibling of the typical sports bar, and it happens to be located in a bustling Salisbury strip. It’s surrounded by ample parking, a clean exterior, and a welcoming entrance, but when you get inside, you’ll find a standout hangout full of super-fun (and affordable) sports-bar staples.
There are crispy fish and shrimp baskets, a cup of fish chowdah that bursts with savory flavor, and classic potato skins that you’ll want to munch while watching the game. The combination of these delicious things, plus a couple of drinks, will run you close to $25, but wow, it’s good.
SurfSide
$$ | (978) 463-9222 | WEBSITE

If you’re someone who, in this day and age, still loves a classic beachside meal (for the record, we do too), head to SurfSide. The specialty at this Salisbury spot is their EPIC burritos with homemade queso sauce—a hearty, satisfying variety that’s unlike anything else in the area. They’re made from a combination of fresh seafood sourced from local fishermen and quality ingredients, which provides a bright coastal flavor that hits the spot no matter what time of day it is.
Plus, with beautiful outside dining and VIP cabanas, SurfSide is a great casual group option, especially for lunch with a view of the water.
Sylvan Street Grille
$$ | (978) 462-7919 | WEBSITE

Many of the best restaurants in Salisbury are polished establishments that require planning and premium prices to secure a table. Sylvan Street Grille stands in direct contrast to all that, which is exactly what makes it so special. The casual restaurant is a true neighborhood place with a bustling weekend crowd, friendly staff, consistent meals, and bar food that you return to the area for. Order the buffalo chicken fingers and the pumpkin white russian.
GroundSwell Surf Café
$ | (978) 255-1456 | WEBSITE

Beachfront bliss and healthy indulgence: those are the main reasons we send friends to GroundSwell Surf Café. Located right on the sand, this cute coffee shop offers a relaxing atmosphere with the best view of the ocean. While the weekend crowds can mean a wait, we like to head over on weekday mornings to experience a more serene vibe (read: snag the best deck seats).
Sip excellent coffee at the counter—the gluten-free Smoothie Bowls are wonderfully fresh—and soak in all the coastal scenery, then wonder why it took you this long to discover this perfect beach spot. The vegetarian breakfast burrito is deliciously satisfying, and though prices are a bit elevated, they’re certainly justified for the quality.
