Every year, as the seasons shift and the calendar pages turn, a quiet pilgrimage begins. Not for music or film, but for something more fundamental: the search for exceptional food. And in Troy, Alabama, that search leads to these 17 establishments, where every bite tells a story of tradition, innovation, and Southern soul.
Marco’s Pizza
$ | (334) 231-8080 | WEBSITE

Marco’s Pizza, a local favorite in Troy, is a pizza joint that’s been winning over customers with its delicious pies and varied menu. The Hawaiian pizza is excellent and you should get a large to share with the table. And you can get a very good deluxe pizza with spicy cheese alongside tasty boneless wings in all flavors. They offer a military discount for those who qualify, which makes the affordable prices even better.
The young man working the window was fast and friendly, which keeps the service efficient. The odds of finding better pizza than Domino’s or Pizza Hut here will be very high.
Monarcas Mexican Restaurant
$ | (334) 808-9424 | WEBSITE

Monarcas Mexican Restaurant is the place you go when you just want really good Mexican food and a margarita. It’s affordable, it’s tasty, and best of all, nobody is going to try to upsell you on anything except for maybe the $6 house margarita special. It tends to draw a crowd of families, locals, and whoever else lives just around Troy—generally a pretty relaxed crowd.

The Pizza Box, LLC.
$ | (334) 268-8382 | WEBSITE

We can really only think of one place in the world where you can get best-in-class pizza and Trojan Spice wings, and that’s in the cozy dining room of The Pizza Box. That’s because they’re home to some of the most delicious pizza and highly-rated wings in Pike County, reminiscent of childhood memories. Of course, The Pizza Box is more than just a pizza joint—it’s a welcoming spot with friendly staff, and a good one at that.
Come here to relax in a warm atmosphere, eat more food than you can handle, converse with the locals, and enjoy a satisfying meal. It’s easy to forget that anything else is going on when you’re here.
Rodeo Mexican Restaurant
$ | (334) 770-0400 | WEBSITE

Rodeo Mexican Restaurant has been serving Troy for years, so it’s old enough to be the great-great-grandparent of the Peanut Festival. And in that time, many have taken refuge from the festivities to sit down with a cold margarita, some salsa, and a classic Carnitas Rojas. It’s also our favorite spot to enjoy some Steak Jalisco—grilled steak with flavorful sauces—at any time of the year. Preferably with an ice-cold beer.
Sisters’ Restaurant
$ | (334) 566-0064 | WEBSITE

When all you want is a comforting meal that feels like home cooking without the fuss, go to Sisters’ Restaurant. It’s right in the heart of Troy, so you’ll feel warmly welcomed and satisfied while only being a short drive from wherever you’re coming from. Besides the hamburger steak, they also serve very good baked ham and peach cobbler.
Troy’s juicy crab
$ | (334) 770-0705 | WEBSITE

Stepping into Troy’s Juicy Crab feels a little like you’ve just walked into the kind of cozy seafood shack where a group of friends can unwind over a messy, delicious meal, everybody’s relaxed, and an hour always feels like 15 minutes. The menu is made up mostly of seafood boils and sandwiches—we especially love the lemon pepper seafood boil and the tasty sandwiches—and it’s consistently welcoming, but never loud, even during Troy’s busier weekends.
And sometimes, after a full day of work or errands, Troy’s Juicy Crab is exactly the escape you need. It’s also located in a shared plaza with other businesses, making parking straightforward and convenient.
Chick-fil-A
$ | (334) 670-5858 | WEBSITE

Tucked into a busy commercial area in Troy, Chick-fil-A is one of our favorite fast-food spots in town. They’ve always had some of the most consistently delicious chicken sandwiches—even before most people started caring about fast-food quality—and they have a straightforward menu featuring nuggets, waffle fries, and lemonade.
Check their hours ahead of time because they’re closed on Sundays, but during the week you’ll find efficient service, spotless counters, and genuinely friendly staff who make every visit pleasant.
Bayou la Roux
$$ | (334) 770-1269 | WEBSITE

Spend a relaxed Sunday morning enjoying brunch at Bayou la Roux’s welcoming dining room. There’s artwork on the walls, but be aware that sometimes it gets busy with families on the weekend, so check ahead first before heading over. As far as food goes, stick with the classics, like the shrimp salad sandwich or the pork over grits (add extra sauce).
Moe’s Original BBQ
$$ | (334) 770-1515 | WEBSITE

Moe’s Original BBQ isn’t just another barbecue joint in Troy. It’s the go-to spot for consistently flavorful smoked meats and sides, right in the heart of town. It also happens to be an incredibly welcoming place to grab a plate of ribs or a chicken sandwich, whether you’re dining indoors or out on the patio. Despite the occasional parking crunch when it’s busy, they’ve managed to maintain a clean, friendly atmosphere.
But unlike some places, they’ve done it without sacrificing the quality of their hot food or their exceptional house BBQ sauce.
The MARKET
$ | (334) 770-1000 | WEBSITE

The MARKET might just be the most reliable dining spot in Troy, as it’s been continually serving up generous portions and delicious entrees since it opened. It’s a little out of the way in a quiet corner of Pike County, but the odds of encountering a noisy crowd are slim to none, so you can savor the peaceful atmosphere all on your own.
Troy’s Buffet
$ | (334) 770-0996 | WEBSITE

On a busy stretch in Troy is Troy’s Buffet, a Chinese buffet offering amazing rolls, fresh sushi, flavorful fried rice, and satisfying hot food like shrimp and crawfish. The inside feels very straightforward, with simple decor and bright lighting, and even a unique item like taro bao to surprise you a bit.
And if you need some variety for a decent meal, Troy’s makes great fried rice, but you can also find the veggie delight—a vegan option with delightful flavors—available upon request for when you want something lighter. The staff strikes a good balance by being attentive without hovering, and the restaurant and bathroom are generally clean, though there was a mention of a fly issue that may not be ongoing.
Prices can be misleading due to additional costs like drinks, but the overall quality makes it worth a visit, and many praise it as the best Chinese buffet in Alabama despite the outside condition of the place. Overall, customers enjoyed their experience and would try it again.
Flo’s Kitchen
$ | (334) 672-1591 | WEBSITE

You could spend an entire afternoon at Flo’s Kitchen—equal parts family-friendly diner, burger joint, and neighborhood hangout—without even realizing it. And when you need a break from the bustle of Troy, you can. They’re located near Love and Oak, just a short drive or a very dedicated walk away from it all, but the cozy dining room holds enough low tables to feel anything but crowded.
They also make some really great bacon cheeseburgers, because there’s never a bad time to enjoy a perfectly seasoned burger.
Sips Beer Garden and Food Court
$ | (334) 268-8382 | WEBSITE

This Troy beer garden is a great alternative to nearby crowded spots that barely have any parking. Sips also has a spacious outdoor seating area complete with heaters for cold weather and beautiful sunset views. Besides the space, we’re big fans of the crispy fried food offerings, including macaroni bites, chicken strips, and wings.
Between their wide selection of beers on tap and unique drinks like papaya cider, you can basically drink here for the entire afternoon, and as if this place couldn’t get any more welcoming, dogs are allowed throughout the outdoor area and there are games like cornhole and Jenga for entertainment.
Church’s Texas Chicken
$ | (334) 770-0609 | WEBSITE

The chicken tenders and fries at Church’s Texas Chicken are better than the wings, so this is a place that clearly has its priorities in order. And the manager is described as great and friendly, so you don’t have to worry too much about inconsistent service ruining the experience of biting into that delicious chicken.
Come here when you want some better-than-average fried chicken that’s just far enough from perfect to notice the freezer-burnt taste on the wings, without requiring a long or expensive ride to get there from those who don’t have a local Church’s.
Hook’s BBQ
$ | (334) 808-8008 | WEBSITE

This is how this Hoover barbecue joint feels about barbecue purists: They serve pound cake with every plate, even though it’s sometimes super dry. They’ve seen the debates about sauce, and they know not to get too fancy. Hook’s BBQ has really good pork, outstanding service even when busy, and a comfortable dining room with a soothing style—so it’s a solid choice for those seeking a barbecue fix. Just maybe ask for extra sauce on the side or something.
