El Zarape Restaurant is one of Yuba City’s great Mexican spots, but you went there when everybody came for taco Tuesday. So change things up and go for their weekday lunch instead. This family-run restaurant is well-established, but it’s still one of our favorite places to eat in the entire area.
The welcoming space is perfect for any sized group, the food is tremendous (get the Burrito Mojato or try the vegan tofu options), and your cousin is definitely going to stuff several chips with that house salsa into a to-go container.
The portions are generous, the service is friendly with Dave checking on everyone like family, and you’ll leave completely satisfied without breaking the bank—expect to pay around $12-18 for most entrees in this casual, brightly lit space with comfortable booths and wheelchair accessibility.
Stephens Farmhouse

A trip with your kids involves one of two things: Them getting restless because the drive is too long, or them getting excited because they spot the farmhouse bakery among the trees. Either way, they’re guaranteed to spend the first ten minutes ignoring you and pointing at all the colorful jams and soaps in the small produce store section.
Stephens Farmhouse will satisfy all their sweet-tooth needs, and the selection is ideal for grabbing way too many treats and sharing them with the family (note: you’ll need more than one of the mega cookies). If there are a bunch of you, claim the outdoor picnic area that feels equal parts cozy farm stop and kid-friendly adventure zone.
