June Lake’s dining scene offers two distinct paths. You could chase Michelin stars with elk carpaccio while watching ice climbers scale frozen waterfalls. Or, you could follow this guide to restaurants that deliver pure mountain joy without the pretension. We’ve found spots that make you feel like a kid discovering secret fishing holes—and we’ll keep adding them as new gems emerge.
La Parrilla Grill & Tacos
$ | (760) 209-3478 | WEBSITE

La Parrilla Grill & Tacos is what happens when you give your favorite roadside taco stand a jukebox full of mariachi covers and permission to char their pastor tacos just right. Bring the whole family here, let the festive string lights hide any travel weariness, and savor the fact that you’re probably spending under $20 per person.
This place pairs perfectly with June Lake Brewery next door, and it’s fun for many of the same reasons: an energetic atmosphere, reasonable prices, and salsas you’ll want to linger over.
Carl’s Jr.
$ | (760) 934-8812 | WEBSITE

Finding a satisfying meal at Carl’s Jr. is as predictable as finding a parking spot at the June Lake trailhead on a sunny Saturday (you know the one). This is classic American fast food distilled into a family meal. The whole dining room constantly teeters on the edge of breaking out into laughter and conversation. The hot food (and the chocolate shakes) make you relax in your seat.
And staff members occasionally whip out menus and start explaining options with genuine enthusiasm like seasoned hosts.
June lake junction

Real-milkshakes, organic espresso, and highway views that stretch for miles—June Lake Junction has cracked the recipe for the perfect road-trip pit stop. The combination of the cafe’s cozy simplicity and the staff’s genuine kindness makes it a welcome reminder that good places still exist along the highway. The snacks are straightforward and satisfying.
But it’s the friendly staff, their helpful demeanor, and the shelves stocked with basic groceries and souvenirs that make it feel like stumbling into a small-town oasis. After shake number two, you’ll be chatting with the welcoming team and planning your next drive through the area.
Eagle’s Landing Restaurant
$$ | (760) 648-7004 | WEBSITE

Eagle’s Landing serves one of the best breakfasts in the Eastern Sierra with those stunning mountain views, where a picturesque stream turns the dining room into a serene escape with a side of salmon. You’re not coming here for the fastest service during the quieter months—it’s fine—but the second that Texas style grilled cheese with tomato soup arrives, people settle into their seats and savor the moment. This is especially true if you’re enjoying the Ribeye for dinner, cooked to perfection.
Hot spiced apple ciders are sipped, reservations are wise, and the warm atmosphere with lovely wood decor doesn’t fade until after the last phenomenal hot toddy.
Balanced Rock Grill & Cantina
$ | (760) 648-7849 | WEBSITE

Balanced Rock Grill & Cantina is a cozy Mexican spot where servers have a sixth sense for when you’re down to your last three chips. Expect fantastic asada tacos, classic taco plates, carne asada, and a family tree of homemade tortillas with salsa fresh enough to taste the garden in. The space is versatile enough for family dinners at a booth or a quick round of chili rellenos (served with surprisingly delicious flair) after a day on the lake.
But it’s probably best not to make concrete plans after—Balanced Rock is so satisfying you’ll just want to cancel them and make this your entire meal.
Good Life Cafe
$ | (760) 934-1734 | WEBSITE

You can’t escape the good life at Good Life Cafe. It greets you in every corner of this welcoming establishment—even in the generous portions, which are so substantial we want to keep quiet about them to not ruin the delight. But you’re not coming here just to eat enough to justify three helpings. Good Life Cafe has one of the most satisfying menus near June Lake, full of wholesome takes on the kinds of breakfast and lunch classics that are refreshingly abundant in this area.
Order the Mahdi Mahdi and eggs breakfast, both because it’s our favorite breakfast in Mammoth, and because its freshness will give you another reason to savor every bite.
Salsa’s Taqueria – Mammoth Lakes
$ | (760) 924-0408 | WEBSITE

Is Salsa’s Taqueria a taqueria or a full-service restaurant? Yes. And that’s why it works so well. Pull up to the casual Mammoth Lakes spot on a weekend afternoon and the place will be split between people grabbing quick burritos to go and families settling in for a three-enchilada dinner combo. It’s a comfortable chaos that works as long as you don’t mind a little wait during peak hours or sharing space with fellow hungry travelers. But the food here is no afterthought.
Their Mexican-focused menu is solid. The longer you linger over horchata, the more you appreciate the friendly staff (and they serve breakfast burritos all morning).
Mammoth Coffee Roasting, Co.
$ | (760) 646-3994 | WEBSITE

If you want to shake up your usual Tuesday morning routine of instant coffee at your desk, head to Mammoth Coffee Roasting, Co. Every single day, they bake fresh pastries and brew excellent coffee inside the compact space. The place really comes alive around 8am. That’s when the shop gets packed (not unlike a giant donut) with people sipping cappuccinos and munching on breakfast sandos like it’s Saturday morning and you don’t need to check emails for hours.
Follow their social media for daily pastry updates.
Café Crêpe
$ | (909) 809-2353 | WEBSITE

It’s official: Café Crêpe is the best breakfast spot in June Lake right now. This is the way it should be. The resort restaurant is a triumph in casual morning meals. The outdoor seating area is full of scenic mountain views, friendly chatter, and steaming coffee mugs. The patio is where everyone in this town wants to be on a sunny morning. The entire place screams relaxation like syrup on pancakes.
And your effort for grabbing a table will be a meal full of pour-over coffee, Plant Power crepes, and a renewed faith in simple, quality food.
Breakfast Club
$ | (760) 914-2820 | WEBSITE

We understand why you’d be skeptical of a place like Breakfast Club. But this restaurant in the heart of Mammoth is a morning full of coffee refills and chatting with cheerful servers. The reasonably priced waffles are solid, but the atmosphere makes up for it. The staff glide around contented diners and guide them to watch hash browns get crisped on the griddle. Get ready when they hand you a fresh croissant.
It means the breakfast rush is coming, and it’s time to sit back and pretend like you’re a regular at a cozy mountain cabin.
Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl
$$ | (760) 934-4200 | WEBSITE

There are many places in Mammoth Lakes trying hard to be special—and missing the mark completely. While there’s nothing particularly fancy or expected about Mammoth Rock ‘N’ Bowl, the restaurant is still one of our favorite places to relax and eat with a view. This place is stuck above a bowling alley—but not in a tacky way. Rather, in a way that makes it feel like a friend who’s committed to a particular charm.
There’s creamy mushroom soup you can enjoy on the patio while you take in the scenery, very generous portions, and good elk medallions. Also, nature lovers adore it here. There’s a good chance you end up finishing your meal with the excellent caramel brûlée.
