Pemberton might not be the first name that springs to mind for a culinary pilgrimage, but that’s precisely why you should pay attention. Forget the predictable chains and tired diners—these are the spots where locals actually eat, from unassuming family-run joints serving perfect pizza to BYOB bistros with plates worth the drive. They’re wildly different, but each one makes this corner of New Jersey taste delicious.
Two Fish BYOB
$$$ | (856) 428-3474 | WEBSITE

Our favorite kind of restaurants are the ones that serve seafood, and Two Fish BYOB—the most intimate spot in Pemberton—does just that, every evening from 5pm-10pm. Sure, this cozy little gem is rich in flavor (the salmon crudo was crafted by chef Mike himself) and you might walk in on a couple celebrating an anniversary when you come here. But we like it because Two Fish is just a phenomenal seafood destination.
It’s small but welcoming if you plan ahead, which essentially boils down to three things: bring your own wine, reserve early, and don’t skip the octopus.
Pete & Jon’s Pizzaria
$ | (609) 894-8073 | WEBSITE

Pete & Jon’s Pizzaria feels like a cross between a neighborhood joint and a college hangout—or a neighbor-college, which is a phrase we just made up that’s as fun to say as this pizzeria is to eat at. Even though it’s right on the main street, Pete & Jon’s is brightly lit and makes you feel like you’re well above the usual fast-food fray in the heart of a bustling family spot. Lively atmosphere aside, this place also serves some of the most reliable pizza in town.
The menu is straightforward and consistently satisfying, especially the classic cheese pies. The staff is friendly and quick, though the noise level can get high, and the area outside sometimes carries a faint, odd smell. Overall, it’s a decent option for a casual meal, with good pricing around $15–$20 per person, but it might not suit those looking for a more polished dining experience.
Burger King
$ | (609) 283-0114 | WEBSITE

Burger King in Pemberton has the DNA of a fast-food joint, a family-friendly spot, and a surprisingly good restaurant. And while your stomach will get mad at you if you come here without ordering at least something from their excellent (and very consistent) food menu—like one of the best French fries ever—you can certainly come here just to have a quick, satisfying meal. Burger King stays busy (in a good way) during lunch hours.
But it’s also a lovely weeknight dinner option, whether or not you want to grab a quick bite on a Tuesday or show up for a fresh, juicy chicken sandwich on a Thursday.
Evergreen Dairy Bar
$ | (609) 654-8585 | WEBSITE

Evergreen Dairy Bar is proof that not all diners are greasy, tired spots that feel more like time capsules. This place stays busy and bright both inside—where you’ll find consistently great soft serve and plenty of good breakfasts—and outside, which is a parking lot that all other parking lots should aspire to be. There’s convenient parking and a clean atmosphere that looks like it was maintained through years of local care. It’s hard to get a table on a summer weekend though.
But if Evergreen Dairy Bar looks too crowded, here are some alternatives nearby.
O’Connor’s American Bar & Grille
$$ | (609) 261-1555 | WEBSITE

O’Connor’s American Bar & Grille is a popular spot to dine with friends or family in Pemberton, and it has one of the best bar services in the area. The service itself is always outstanding with knowledgeable and friendly bartenders who make you feel right at home. And that service is the kind of warm, welcoming attention you’ll want to savor and appreciate, which is easy because they’re so good you might just settle in for the whole evening.
O’Connor’s is located in what feels like an open, friendly environment with a lively atmosphere, and can comfortably fit a crowd. But if there are no open seats at the bustling bar, there’s plentiful parking and easy wheelchair accessibility at both entrances.
Love Kiddo
$ | (609) 283-6069 | WEBSITE

In our ideal world, Browns Mills would be dotted with cozy spots serving authentic Vietnamese street food in a bright, cheerful space that makes a quick lunch feel like a special occasion. Love Kiddo has all of that, plus real boba tea and hard scoop ice cream. This place is named with genuine affection, and provides a perfect dose of local comfort that’s almost (but not quite) too charming. It’s not too formal for a casual bite, but also not too plain for a refreshing treat and friendly chat.
That’s a rare sweet spot for Pemberton.
Riccardo’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant
$ | (609) 735-0162 | WEBSITE

Riccardo’s is a family-run Italian restaurant where the owner, Vito Russo, has a sixth sense for when you’re savoring the last bite of your pizza. You can stop here for a quick slice at the counter but it’s also a sit-down spot that welcomes reservations. Expect fantastic thin-crust pies, classic sausage and pepperoni, and what’s quite simply the most perfect square pie with sausage and garlic in the region.
The space is versatile enough for family dinners at a table or a quick cannoli at the counter before heading home. But it’s probably best not to make concrete plans after—Riccardo’s is so welcoming you’ll just want to cancel them and make this your entire evening.
Lim Fong’s Delight II
$ | (609) 894-8890 | WEBSITE

Pemberton has never had fewer options for authentic Chinese cuisine, which is why Lim Fong’s Delight II is less about the decor and more about the family-friendly atmosphere, attentive service, and delicious food that gets the taste buds dancing like a wok on high heat. Sometimes the portions are generous, but if not, prices are usually a reasonable $12 to $22. From lunch to dinner, the spotless dining room fills up with regulars and new faces alike.
There’s always friendly staff, and it’s often Martin and Leo. They remember preferences with genuine care, which is ideal for a relaxed meal and a chicken and rice moment.
Yumy Platter
$ | (609) 353-1083 | WEBSITE

Yumy Platter is a Pemberton restaurant that offers a relatively limited menu. This doesn’t mean that you’re stuck with boring options (this is a place focused on excellence after all, a kitchen incapable of mediocrity). But it does mean that this spot makes its dishes absolutely spectacularly, with really incredible flavors.
The staff takes turns serving up fresh food from that kitchen while you enjoy platters, snack on samosas, and mentally calculate how many times you need to come back to try everything on the menu. It’s tough to walk in on a busy night, but they do provide clear ETAs for your food.
Honey Post
$ | (609) 451-5156 | WEBSITE

Honey Post is a great spot for people who never fully recovered from their health-conscious phase. The casual eatery is split into two sections. One has a drive-through window and serves smoothies like the honey buzz, a Medford Lakes rendition of an açaí bowl made with local honey. The other section only serves fresh juices and snacks and looks like a cheerful neighborhood café.
Clean counters, friendly staff who remember your dietary needs, and a welcoming atmosphere with plenty of parking—it’s all dripping with wholesome convenience. To order just pull up to the window and make sure you ask about the creative blended drinks like old times.
Mi Pueblito Modern Mexican Restaurant
$$ | (856) 885-2638 | WEBSITE

But now you don’t have to travel far to satisfy a craving for authentic Mexican flavors. You can just go to Mi Pueblito Modern Mexican Restaurant in Medford. Here, in a pleasantly charming space, you’ll find everything that makes this place a hidden gem: fresh seafood selections like salmon-shrimp tacos with mango salsa, delicious steak tacos with an authentic touch, and an inviting atmosphere that’ll feel welcoming to anyone who appreciates great food.
The vegetarian options aren’t an afterthought either—they’re thoughtfully prepared dishes with creative twists like a vibrant beet salad and a satisfying vegetarian chimichanga. The BYOB policy adds to the relaxed experience, and the staff’s attentive yet unobtrusive service—including thoughtful touches like Tajin instead of salt on drink rims—makes every visit memorable.
PB Blossom Cookies
$ | (609) 365-3530 | WEBSITE

Pemberton is generally a place you go if you’re looking for quiet suburban living, but PB Blossom Cookies is a great spot for people who’d like to stay away from those chain coffee shops and overly-sweet pastries. This neighborhood gem works for a solid latte and peanut butter blossom cookie in the morning or a cold brew and chocolate chip treat as the afternoon sun warms the comfy seating area.
But PB Blossom Cookies (open with plenty of parking and clean environment) is undoubtedly a cozy spot and generally the best choice for anyone in the middle of the day who doesn’t want to go home yet and would like to be around people who feel the same way.
Vincentown Diner
$ | (609) 267-3033 | WEBSITE

This classic diner has only gotten better since its recent remodeling and new exterior look. Once you see the welcoming modern facade, you know you’re in the right place. Vincentown Diner and all its East Coast staples represent the soul of classic American comfort food. It’s too polished to be a greasy spoon, but it has a bar and a potent aroma of fresh coffee in the air.
You’re coming here to enjoy a satisfying meal, try inventive dishes like chicken and waffles, and pretend you’re still discovering your favorite comfort foods with a slice of homemade apple pie.
Farm Truck Brewing
$$ | (609) 451-5481 | WEBSITE

There is really never a bad time to come to Farm Truck Brewing. They’ve got one of our favorite local vibes that includes classic trucks out front and some of the best beers in the area. The spacious brewery is always lively without feeling crowded. And if there’s a group of friends gathering, the entire space turns into one big hangout spot.
This place is everything we love about craft breweries: friendly, personable, and not afraid of a quaint small-town atmosphere, without any of the pretentious overpriced stuff you’ll find at chain spots.
Best Taste Caribbean Cuisine
$$ | (609) 491-7230 | WEBSITE

Nearly all Caribbean spots are casual takeout joints with reggae on the speakers, but only one has a woman who remembers your name and your usual order. Fittingly, it’s called Best Taste Caribbean Cuisine and it happens to be our favorite Jamaican restaurant in the area right now. The Pemberton storefront is a comforting place to be even on weeknights, when the warm atmosphere wraps around you like a familiar blanket and the smell of jerk chicken from the grill makes you forget the drive.
You’re here for those authentic dishes like oxtails and jerk chicken, but you should also come for the sides. The menu, as they craft it, has portions that feel like they were designed by a grandmother who worries you aren’t eating enough. There’s fluffy rice and peas, sweet plantains, candied yams, and that macaroni and cheese everyone keeps talking about.
Sebastian’s Schnitzelhaus
$$ | (609) 724-9609 | WEBSITE

Sebastian’s Schnitzelhaus has cornered the market on authentic German comfort food in Pemberton. The experience is wonderfully hands-on—you’ll order at the register where the friendly staff member always shares a warm chat, then find your own cozy table amid the kitschy decor of family photos. Schnitzels and other traditional dishes run about $18 to $28, making this ideal for a hearty, yet reasonably priced meal.
Beyond the main courses, Sebastian’s offers a selection of German beers and sides that perfectly complement the nostalgic flavors. It’s also conveniently located near other local favorites if you want to explore more of the area. They operate on a cash-only basis with an ATM on site, so come prepared for a truly authentic visit.
Peewee’s Ice Cream
$ | (609) 257-3365 | WEBSITE

People love to ask what you’d bring with you if you were trapped on a desert island and sure, a fishing rod and a hammock would be nice. But if we could bring one ice cream shop with us, it’d be Peewee’s. No other spot in Pemberton is as delightful. A visit to this quiet town includes Jersey corn, Irish potato, Irish coffee, and butter cake flavors, vegan options, homemade ice cream pies, and pup cups for furry friends.
Add to that the friendly young woman behind the counter, the clean shop with its very nice outside area, and those smooth, refreshing scoops that never overwhelm, and we’d happily spend a few years alone with Peewee’s on an island.
Stratosphere Brewing Company

Stratosphere isn’t strictly a brewery. The Pemberton classic offers BYOF too, but you really come here to drink and play games, which pretty much makes it a hangout in our eyes. This place is open till 10pm during the week (and usually later on weekends), but the best time to come here is for their famous live music nights. You get a couple hours of delicious sours and the best board game session of your freaking life.
