Salsa Picante
$ | (510) 656-8685 | WEBSITE

Salsa Picante feels like a modern-day, cozier version of other authentic Mexican spots in Fremont. There’s even a colorful, welcoming atmosphere that honors the culture. While many of those places are classics, Salsa Picante is more of a see-and-be-seen destination with plenty of seating inside and enjoyable window views of Fremont Blvd. The food is amazing, and though we plan on trying the whole menu eventually, we’re pretty stuck on the veggie super burrito and the horchata.
There are also great churros and flavorful salsas that come with generous portions.
Mumbai Chowk Fremont
$$ | (510) 709-8426 | WEBSITE

Indian restaurant Mumbai Chowk Fremont is a certified favorite lunch spot in Fremont. There’s Bollywood music playing that keeps you tapping your feet and colorful murals of Mumbai street scenes all over the walls. Since it’s Indian street food, you’ll find things like Surmai Thali with perfectly grilled fish, Chicken Makhanwaala curry that’s rich and creamy, and Chole Kulche that’s spicy and satisfying.
It’s all delicious, including the seafood selection that features bold Malvani and Goan flavors. The space is spacious and clean, creating a welcoming atmosphere where Tesla employees and locals alike gather for flavorful curries and excellent service.
Poke House – Warm Springs

Bright modern lighting, sleek minimalist counters, and a vibrant mural of Hawaiian waves—welcome to Poke House – Warm Springs. Come to this Fremont spot for a quick lunch or early dinner and build your own bowl—prioritize the garlic oyster Ahi, our favorite rich-yet-balanced fish option with a subtle garlic kick, and the Spicy Tuna with its perfect heat that tingles without overwhelming.
(It’s also consistently the best poke choice for those craving Hawaiian-inspired flavors without the flight.) Top things off with a scoop of complimentary crab salad that’s the creamier-yet-fresher cousin of typical seafood salads.
Market Broiler Fremont
$$ | (510) 791-8675 | WEBSITE

Market Broiler Fremont offers a straightforward seafood experience in a casual setting. Between their lunch and dinner menus, this spot covers all the classics, with dishes like the salmon and coconut shrimp duo and clam-abundant New England chowder, along with standout drinks like the smoked old fashioned. It’s not fancy, but it’s one of our go-tos for a reliable meal after work or a casual weekend dinner. In case you’re craving something to start, don’t miss the crunchy-crusted sourdough loaf.
Krispy Krunchy Chicken

There are crispy chicken tenders, mildly spicy jambalaya, and sweet crispy shrimp dishes to enjoy, along with bigger options like the chicken sandwich and comforting sides of red beans and rice. Lunch here is always a treat, because you can grab a quick, fresh meal on the go.
Evenings are a little bit more relaxed with families picking up affordable, halal-certified chicken to impress a party group.
Spin A Yarn Steakhouse

What sets Spin A Yarn Steakhouse apart from similar dining spots is the fact that they have rich mahogany booths, classic leather armchairs, and live jazz and saxophone music filling the space. New Yong Kang Seafood Restaurant
$ | (510) 252-9926 | WEBSITE

New Yong Kang Seafood Restaurant has been a Fremont fixture for years, holding onto that nostalgic charm that makes it a childhood favorite for so many. The space feels comfortably familiar, with plenty of room to spread out at those spacious tables that make it easy for families and groups. Start with the beef claypot—those tender beef tendons are a standout—and the short rib with orange sauce, which comes out lightly crispy and just sweet enough.
Follow that up with their solid chow mein with shrimp, which thankfully doesn’t feel overly oily, and you’ll leave more than satisfied. The whole experience moves at that brisk, no-fuss pace you expect from a classic Chinese spot, with food often ready in 15 to 20 minutes even during busy times. At around $15-$20 per entrée, you’re getting generous portions that make the value hard to beat. Just remember to bring cash, since that’s still the only way to pay.
Even with that small inconvenience, it’s easy to see why this place has kept its loyal following all these years.
China Station
$ | (510) 487-7435 | WEBSITE

China Station is our pick for the best casual Chinese food in Fremont. If you’re in the area, use their addictive spicy garlic chicken wings—often called ‘crack chicken’—to fuel up for an afternoon exploring the local shops. It’s also completely worth it to go out of your way to try their nostalgic beef fried rice and garlic fried chicken, which have remained unchanged over the years.
There are just a few cozy tables, but it’s never super busy, so you can relax over a flavorful meal while friendly staff welcome both new and returning guests.
Hyderabad Dum Biryani
$ | (510) 490-1500 | WEBSITE

Hyderabad Dum Biryani is where you go when you’re craving something real, because everybody and their cousin is there. Your neighbor is at a table sharing mutton ghee roast biryani with their family, your coworker is by the window enjoying a refreshing mango lassi, and a group of people from your apartment building is near the entrance when you walk to the clean restrooms. Plus, this great (and more affordable) Hyderabadi spot has almost too many dishes here to choose from.
Go with the signature egg biryani that’s an authentic take on a Hyderabad classic, and some mutton curry with a nice rich gravy, and plenty of tender meat, perfect spices, and garlic naan.
Massimo’s
$$ | (510) 792-2000 | WEBSITE

This is one of our favorite spots in Fremont—it’s a real go-to for locals, where you can always expect attentive table service and a cozy, elevated ambiance. Go for the halibut special that comes fresh and tasty, rich with flavor. They also have one of the top eggplant parmigianas we’ve ever tried, satisfying and well-prepared.
