If you’ve eaten at enough Santa Clarita seafood spots, the menus start to blur together. Endless fried calamari baskets, predictable shrimp scampi, and the same old clam chowder can make any night out feel routine. But sometimes, you just want something that truly stands out from the school. Here are the spots that deliver exactly that.
Neca kitchen
$ | (661) 254-5750 | WEBSITE

If you’ve heard a lot about authentic Mexican food (which basically translates to fresh, flavorful, and made with care), but you have no idea where to find it in Santa Clarita, look no further than Neca Kitchen. This family-owned spot goes heavy on the welcoming, home-style vibe, and pulls it off. On any given day at Neca, you’ll find a whole bunch of people ready to dig into some tacos, tamales, and very well-made ceviche.
Crab N’ Spice
$$$ | (661) 255-5860 | WEBSITE

One of the best seafood boil spots in Santa Clarita, Crab N’ Spice is an all-you-can-eat destination in Valencia Town Center. There’s a set menu price, and you have to commit to the $55 level before you’re led to a table with an incredible variety of seafood. They have excellent sides, but we always just order the snow crab legs – you name your favorite sauce and a spice level, and they’ll bring you a steaming bag of perfectly seasoned crab.
One might be coated in their signature coconut sauce, another could be dripping with garlic butter, and the last might be dusted with their house Cajun blend. The flavors are layered all different ways – mostly from fresh ingredients and careful timing.
Taqueria El Tapatio
$ | (661) 753-3104 | WEBSITE

Walking into Taqueria El Tapatio in Santa Clarita is like stepping into a vibrant Mexican fiesta that’s somehow entirely indoors. This lively spot off the main drag has a clean, welcoming space with a bustling salsa bar and great music filling every corner. And everyone is loading up on house-made salsas and eating as much excellent Mexican food as possible (get the Super Nachos).
Weekdays are definitely more relaxed, but come Friday and Saturday, expect a decent wait for those standout burritos and tacos.
Dario’s Mexican Restaurant
$ | (661) 430-8104 | WEBSITE

If you’re wondering how a Mexican restaurant could possibly make this seafood list, you clearly haven’t spent an evening at Dario’s. This authentic spot has a welcoming atmosphere unlike anywhere else in Santa Clarita, and that makes dealing with the occasional wait worth every minute. Once inside, you’ll find reasonably priced and consistently delicious food, a friendly crowd of regulars, and a staff full of servers who care about what they do.
La Esmeralda Mexican and Seafood Restaurant
$ | (661) 430-8131 | WEBSITE

A solid family-owned Mexican and seafood spot in Santa Clarita, La Esmeralda isn’t your typical touristy, over-the-top cantina. Instead, it’s just a decent-sized restaurant serving authentic-style dishes. Inside, you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere where regulars enjoy extremely delicious aguachiles and Camarones Esmeralda, along with amazing cocktails. The service can be hit or miss, with some inattentiveness when ordering, and cleanliness could be improved.
There have also been complaints about unexpected credit card fees. Still, returning customers highlight the chicken tacos for kids and say great things about the food’s potential.
Las Delicias Taqueria and Cevicheria
$ | (661) 367-4152 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in Santa Clarita, Las Delicias Taqueria and Cevicheria is divided into two clear zones – the main dining area and the quick-service counter. And while you can have a perfectly satisfying sit-down meal here, the real move is to skip the tables altogether and head right to the counter. Happily, the friendly and attentive staff—always ready with recommendations—keeps the place buzzing with energy.
Even so, this hidden gem is still a great spot to grab authentic Mexican dishes like the fresh shrimp ceviche, flavorful Tereso burrito, or crispy chicken tacos, enjoy a quick, satisfying meal, and get a little taste of Mexico along the way.
CrabMentality
$$ | (661) 347-9070 | WEBSITE

The seafood spot of every Santa Clarita local’s dreams, CrabMentality is a fantastic restaurant in an area that’s otherwise lacking in reliable places for fresh seafood. The rotating selection of seafood boils all tastes more like they should be on the coast than in a restaurant in the SCV. There’s plenty of space to relax, or more likely, dig into king crab legs with both hands.
They have popular dishes like lobster rolls and shrimp tacos where (real) king crab legs have been known to steal the show. The sauces aren’t going to blow you away, but they’ll certainly get the job done.
Newhall Refinery
$$ | (661) 388-4477 | WEBSITE

Tucked away in Santa Clarita, Newhall Refinery is part-rustic eatery and part-private event space, and you can experience both things together or separately. The private room is a reservation situation (via their website), with prices running about $35 per person for a meal that lasts a couple of hours.
If paying that much to enjoy beautifully decorated surroundings and some very attentive staff isn’t your speed, the good news is you can still walk in without a pre-booked event and eat as much as you want in the main dining area. Bonus: You can order drinks like the cucumber jalapeño margarita from their full bar.
Casa Vieja
$$ | (661) 252-9804 | WEBSITE

If you want a genuine taste of what Santa Clarita was like before the chain restaurants took over, Casa Vieja is the place to go. The best Mexican spot in the area, this one-of-a-kind restaurant has been serving delicious food and great service with a kitchy feel since it opened. You get the sense that not much has changed here – the hand-painted furniture, the homey atmosphere, and even the frozen strawberry margarita that’s a must-try item.
California Fish Grill
$ | (661) 291-1518 | WEBSITE

There’s an actual patio from Santa Clarita that was enclosed and rebuilt inside this seafood-focused grill in the valley. It’s a bit over-the-top, and we love it. Most nights, there’s a steady stream of customers, and occasionally there will be a wait for tables. As busy as all that sounds, there are plenty of clean and tidy spots where you can take a seat, so it’s a pretty low-key place to grab dinner after work, or late on the weekend.
Most importantly, the fish is fresh, and you’ll never wait long for excellent service.
Patron’s Mexican Bar & Grill
$$ | (661) 554-4539 | WEBSITE

Before Santa Clarita became that place where all your foodie friends drive for authentic Mexican flavors, Patron’s held down this part of town. The Mexican bar and grill has one of the best happy hours in the valley, and most nights, it’s full of people sipping too many expertly crafted margaritas. You can’t go wrong with anything from the extensive tequila selection, which will go great with huge Taco Tuesday specials and a platter of enchiladas.
Fish Tail Seafood Grill & Poke & Fish Fry
$ | (661) 295-3474 | WEBSITE

Fish Tail Seafood Grill & Poke & Fish Fry is a seafood emporium. This Santa Clarita spot offers a laid-back beach vibe with fresh and flavorful food, featuring highlights like poke bowls and fish and chips, which are praised for their deliciousness. Whatever you’re in the mood for today, you’ll be able to find it somewhere on the menu. Just don’t miss the claim chowder or the shrimp po’ boy sandwich.
Let’s THAI
$ | (661) 481-0015 | WEBSITE

Let’s THAI is a cozy restaurant in Santa Clarita that feels like half the size of an average Thai kitchen. The food is extremely flavorful, and each dish comes with its own character. For example, the whole menu tempts you when you order the red Thai curry with soy beef, and another dish involves a unique lemon Thai tea that marches right up to your table.
Chances are that once you’re in, you’ll find the prices reasonable for the quality, because they’re all justified by people who have been eating there since it opened.
Aroma Thai Restaurant
$ | (661) 367-4995 | WEBSITE

While it’s not technically fine dining, you are certain to walk out of Aroma Thai Restaurant feeling completely satisfied. Without giving too much away, for $17 you’ll get a generous portion of massaman curry that feels a bit like you’ve discovered the perfect comfort food, complete with tender chicken, carrots, potatoes, and onions. You’ll get to try different dishes, like spicy soups and Pad Thai, and sometimes they have pork fried rice or chow mein noodles.
Dining happens with smaller groups, and be sure to come hungry, because the portions tend to fill you up fast.
