If you know one thing about Bottle Rocket in downtown Atlanta, it’s probably their $18 Happy Hour sushi specials. Well now, they’ve got that welcoming vibe every night (which is fitting, because the place genuinely feels like a neighborhood hangout). The menu consistently delights, featuring combinations like spicy tuna rolls, fresh sashimi, and Philly rolls, or creative maki, crisp salads, and seasonal specials. Street parking and nearby lot access at No Más Cantina make it convenient.

Sushi Huku in Metro Atlanta is a local favorite for high-quality sushi. So it makes sense that they’ve built a menu around fresh, standout rolls, including the New Paige, Lambada, Pink Lady, Geisha, Tiger Eye, Home Depot, and Super Crunch. They’ve also got a great selection of appetizers like Gyoza and Edamame for reasonable prices, with a meal for four coming out to around $32 per person. The relaxed, chill atmosphere and friendly service make it ideal for both casual and special occasions.

O-Ku recently reopened for dining in Atlanta, and is offering a full selection from their outstanding sushi menu. This includes the crispy rice, Black Magic, and rock shrimp tempura, along with some favorites, like the Over the Rainbow roll and Mt. Fuji. Cocktails like the Saint Miyako and Sugar + Spice are available, along with dining via their terrace, which offers a lovely sunset view on a first-come-first-served basis. Valet is available for $5.
One Flew South

One Flew South is one of the most remarkable upscale fusion restaurants in Atlanta, so it makes sense that it’s a pretty damn good place for a layover meal, too. And if you’ve got some time before your flight, there aren’t many better options – you can get fresh Hamachi rolls, flavorful tuna jerky, and a bunch of great signature cocktails like the Pretty Brown Eyes.
It’s also not often that you’re able to get their food this conveniently – meals for two run $75-$100 and include a couple of sushi rolls, a starter like the curry cauliflower soup, and a glass from their well-priced wine list. Note that you should allow a little extra time during peak travel hours. Both airport and Beltline locations available.
Omakase by Yun

Omakase by Yun doesn’t fit strictly into any sushi bar category, but it’s as much an experience as anything else. They’ve got a 13-course omakase menu with uni ama ebi, Big Mac nigiri, and top-notch fish that’s widely considered the best. Also, check out the (distinctly not traditional) Yuzu ginger wasabi cocktail, and the sake tasting that’s often highlighted as the best ever. The cozy atmosphere, music, and vibe add to the overall immersive experience, making it ideal for dates and special occasions.
Eight Sushi Lounge

If you’re looking for something lively on the Westside, Eight Sushi Lounge has you covered. This stylish Howell Mill spot is offering outdoor seating for the first time, so take advantage of it. They’ve got some of the area’s best tuna tarlets and foie gras, and you can’t go wrong with the Shinobi roll, or any of the signature rolls (the Casanova is probably our favorite, though). Reservations recommended or walk-ins at the sushi bar.
Tomo Japanese Restaurant

If you’re in Atlanta, you’ve heard of Tomo. But if you haven’t, it’s time you discover – this Japanese spot serves sushi worth traveling for, even if you’re coming from the northern suburbs. There’s an incredible black cod in lettuce wrap we can’t stop thinking about, a crab jalapeno with cucumber we’d order every visit, and a spicy tuna on rice cakes that might just be our favorite thing on the menu. They’ve also got omakase experiences starting around $85 per person that we highly recommend.
Live music and excellent service make every visit memorable.
Ginya Izakaya

Atlanta’s Ginya Izakaya is a traditional Japanese spot in a nostalgic setting filled with memorabilia. In addition to fresh sashimi and generous portions, they’ve got standout dishes like the spicy tonkotsu ramen that’s absolutely addictive – it features rich pork broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender chashu for $18. And if nothing else can satisfy your craving right now, we suspect the solution might be a platter of their incredible Sashimi Regular ($42, serves 2-3).

Himitsu

There’s a good chance you’ve walked right past Himitsu without realizing it – it’s been tucked away as a hidden lounge in a discreet part of Buckhead for years now. Right now, they’re serving all kinds of exceptional cocktails for you to enjoy on-site, from the incredible Yuzu starting at around $16, to the smooth and complex Wagyu Old Fashioned.
And if you’re with friends (or want to make a night of it), they’ve got excellent food like sushi and the standout duck, with plates typically ranging from $18 to $32. Email for a reservation or use the secret code to gain entry, walk-ins are accommodated when space allows.
Ocean Wave By Harry and Sons

A fantastic spot for sushi lovers in Atlanta, Ocean Wave By Harry and Sons works just as well for dining in as it does for takeout. Their generous yellowtail collar is fresh enough to impress any seafood fan, and they’ve got Thai dishes like duck red curry with rice that easily serve two or three. It’s going to be tough to make a bad choice, particularly if you get one of their incredibly crunchy seaweed salads per person.

Pokeworks, the go-to spot for poke bowls in Atlanta, is open for all your sushi bar cravings. They’ve got a bunch of build-your-own bowls, like the shrimp bang bang for pescatarians, along with tasty lunch options and sauces like sriracha aioli. The sweet and crispy shrimp and chicken combo is our favorite thing to order here, but just follow your gut, because the menu is good. Rain Thai and Sushi Bar

A fantastic go-to spot that normally doesn’t do delivery, Rain Thai and Sushi Bar is an ideal place to order from when you’re craving something special (in your own home). Their $45 to-go menu includes their incredible crab rangoon, fresh sushi rolls, flavorful Thai noodles, and more – six dishes in total, served family-style. Make sure to reserve yours ahead of time, because much like a table at Rain Thai, these meals go quickly.
Yoiyoi Steak House and Sushi

Tiki Thai

Tiki Thai might be even better for takeout and delivery than dining in. Because rather than sit in their cozy space and get overwhelmed by the numerous options (crab ragoon, fresh sushi, Nam Tok, Shrimp Tempura, Chicken Basil, Shrimp Basil, etc), you can just scroll through them all online. We still recommend going overboard with your order, though – maybe some sushi (the fresh sushi with crab and avocado is our pick), some Shrimp Tempura with sweet chili sauce, and a Thai iced tea.

Mali Restaurant

A pleasant neighborhood gem in Atlanta, Mali Restaurant serves the kind of comforting Thai meals we crave after a long week. Focus on the curries – get the garlic curry with chicken (with just the right spice level) and what might be the city’s best Larb – and any of their excellent, generously portioned dishes. Trust us when we say you can’t go wrong here, but our favorites are the Gingerene with chicken and the perfectly balanced garlic curry.
They’re also offering $8 glasses of sparkling wine without alcohol, so be sure to enjoy a glass. The warm lighting and cozy seating make it ideal for dates or casual evenings, with easy reservations and ample parking available.
