Sioux Falls has plenty of great sushi bars—but it also has a lot of expensive sushi bars. And while we’ll happily splurge on omakase sometimes, it’s nice to have options when you don’t feel like spending a fortune. That’s why we made this guide. All these spots serve excellent sushi without breaking the bank, and won’t leave you craving more afterward.
Sakura Sushi
$ | (605) 306-3288 | WEBSITE

This cozy little sushi spot in Sioux Falls has fresh fish and creative rolls down to an art. Everything has vibrant flavors and somehow manages to stay light and satisfying, like the excellent spicy tuna roll with crunch and jalapeno bombs. Lucky for you, their bento box lunch special is also a winner, and clocks in at just $12. The teriyaki chicken, California roll, salad, and miso soup is what a quick lunch aspires to be.
And if you’ve got a little extra after discovering your favorite roll, splurge a little and spend $4 for an appetizer, like potstickers or edamame.
Fancy bowl
$ | (605) 338-8888 | WEBSITE

Since Fancy Bowl makes some of the best poke bowls in Sioux Falls, this casual sushi bar could charge a premium for their fresh, flavor-packed creations and we’d happily fork over our cash. But we greatly appreciate that their generous bowls are only around $14—which means (according to our very advanced number-crunching) with $20 you could get a bowl and a drink and call it a satisfying meal.
Their savory poke bowls with well-balanced flavors or plant-based options with delightful textures are all excellent, but ordering the chicken hibachi plate with that yummy sauce for something different is a must.
Taichi Bubble Tea, Ramen and Poke Bowl – Sioux Falls
$ | (605) 271-2033 | WEBSITE

The standout dish at this relaxed Sioux Falls spot is a fresh poke bowl loaded with vibrant ingredients. But if that’s not enough to catch your eye—maybe a $12.95 price tag will. At Taichi, that gets you a generous poke bowl that comes with your choice of protein, rice, and toppings. Not feeling like a bowl? Their sushi burritos cost about the same.
Oshima Sushi Japanese Cuisine
$ | (605) 338-2118 | WEBSITE

Oshima Sushi Japanese Cuisine in Sioux Falls might not have been around forever, but this comfortable and welcoming restaurant feels like it’s been a local staple for years. Wooden tables and soft lighting are complemented by consistently friendly service and lunch specials that defy today’s prices, like $12 sushi combos with miso soup and salad.
But the best value is the Godzilla roll—a generous creation packed with fresh fish and light on rice—paired with their unique homemade dressing salad for just $16. It’s the kind of satisfying meal that keeps customers returning, praising the quick service and pleasant ambiance as much as the delicious food.
Fuji Sushi Express
$ | (605) 362-6188 | WEBSITE

What’s better than fresh, high-quality sushi? Fresh, high-quality sushi for around ten bucks from Fuji Sushi Express in the mall. Each roll from this casual Japanese spot comes with perfectly seasoned rice, various fillings, and your choice of classic or creative combinations that you can customize based on your preferences.
The bright dining area is actually more pleasant than you’d expect from a mall location, so while you can definitely come here for a quick solo meal, it’s also great for a meal with friends where you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank later.
Lao Szechuan Hot Pot Buffet
$$ | (605) 888-9888 | WEBSITE

This Sichuan hot pot spot in Sioux Falls is from the same folks behind some of the city’s best Chinese restaurants. But we like this location just off the main drag because it’s a fantastic place to grab an affordable lunch before dealing with the pricier dinner options around town. The place is quiet, but we’ve always been able to find a comfortable booth or table, which still manage to feel more spacious than our average fast-casual joint.
The cumin beef has a fiery kick, the Mongolian beef is juicy, and you can upgrade to include fried rice or extra sauces without breaking the $15 barrier. The buffet area for meats, veggies, and noodles is pretty clean, and the special sauces and BBQ sauce are highlights that keep us coming back.
While the service can be hands-off at times, requiring us to flag down the friendly staff, the quality of the food—especially those authentic Sichuan flavors in dishes like the Fuqi Fei Pian and the satisfying spicy broths—makes it worth the trip. It’s not the most budget-friendly lunch spot, but for $11 including rice, with those large servings that often leave us with leftovers, it’s a solid choice for Chinese food lovers looking for something beyond the usual.
Sushi Masa | Japanese Restaurant
$$ | (605) 977-6968 | WEBSITE

From the velvety salmon sashimi to the generous two-tone sushi combo, our heads make an Exorcist turn whenever we hear someone talking about Sushi Masa’s fish. Plus, this family-owned spot in Sioux Falls serves exceptional sushi for around $20-30 per person. We like to alternate between the standout two-tone combo with large pieces of tuna and salmon, or the bright Special Cucumber Roll that’s crunchy and tangy in one or two bites.
Both also get plenty of flavor from high-quality sushi rice and fresh ingredients that are flown in from Miami.
Tokyo | Japanese Cuisine
$ | (605) 274-1688 | WEBSITE

The best sushi in Sioux Falls is at a cozy Japanese spot called Tokyo | Japanese Cuisine. No, that wasn’t an exaggeration. In fact, as soon as you walk in you’ll see the staff expertly preparing fresh fish behind the counter. The melt-in-your-mouth tuna has the perfect composition of silky texture and clean flavor—all complemented by fresh wasabi and sweet pickled ginger. But maybe the best part is that each nigiri piece is $3.25.
CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar (Hilton Garden Inn – Sioux Falls)
$$ | (605) 782-2600 | WEBSITE

When people want to go out for sushi, we might start doing the math to make sure we’ll have electricity next month. But that’s not the case at CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar. This Hilton Garden Inn dining spot not only has quality sushi, but also offers a satisfying overall experience. Basic rolls like tuna or salmon are priced around $8 while specialty rolls with creative combinations run about $14.
And with most nigiri pieces priced around $4, you can build your own selection alongside their excellent Traditional Poke bowl for under $20. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, happy to correct any mistakes and provide recommendations. While most dishes are delicious with excellent presentation, some items like the artichoke dip may need refinement as they can be dry.
This place accepts cards and provides gluten-free and vegetarian options, making it highly recommended for those with special dietary needs.
Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet
$ | (605) 335-3388 | WEBSITE

This Sioux Falls buffet has become a local favorite for families and Asian food lovers, and it’s easy to see why with prices that stay under $20 for all-you-can-eat. From hibachi-grilled meats with savory sauces, to fresh sushi rolls, to classic American comfort foods, there are plenty of stations to choose from.
Plus, the huge koi pond adds a serene backdrop that not only enhances the atmosphere, but is also a good way to keep kids entertained while adults enjoy light conversation in the sitting area.
Tokyo 26
$ | (605) 274-1588 | WEBSITE

Inside this cozy sushi spot in Sioux Falls you’ll find clean tables with good decorations, attentive service, and some of the best all-you-can-eat sushi around. A few of our favorites at Tokyo 26 are their golden dragon roll with mango, crispy Godzilla roll, and flavorful clear soup. And since the all-you-can-eat option is often cheaper than other sushi places, it’s easy to enjoy a satisfying meal that will comfortably fall around $25.
That extra savings can go towards some mochi ice cream or lo mein, so you won’t even need this guide.
Tokyo Sushi & Hibachi
$$ | (605) 275-3888 | WEBSITE

Beyond being a solid family-friendly destination (Tokyo Sushi & Hibachi stays welcoming even for celebrations), this straightforward Sioux Falls spot is an ideal choice for a satisfying dinner. Tucked among their reliable offerings is the hibachi experience. There you can watch engaging, funny chefs skillfully cook up tasty fried rice and your choice of protein—all for around $18.95.
That means, even if you’ve had a long day craving something hearty, you can still enjoy a lively meal here without breaking the bank.
Fuji Sushi & Hibachi Grill
$$ | (605) 275-1388 | WEBSITE

This cash-only sushi and hibachi spot in Sioux Falls is a huge reason to always have at least one bill with a portrait of Alexander Hamilton’s successor. And with that $20 you can get a sizable plate of tempura sweet potato appetizer, a fresh sushi roll, and still have enough left over for a bowl of miso soup.
It’s the ideal place for a fun dinner out with the family, and make sure to get their delicious (and perfectly cooked) medium rare steak on the hibachi grill (though you might want to bring your appetite with you beforehand).
