Their flounder and quail are solid, but we always go for the Magic Mushroom—a perfectly prepared lion’s main mushroom dish with smoky pulled pork inside. This family-owned winery pours all of its Texas wines to order from barrels tended by a person in a denim apron. The Tempranillo with dark fruit peeking through earthy tannins is good to share, but oak-aged Cabernet is so smooth we recommend sipping one solo with a small but potent cheese plate. The tasting notes don’t provide any region descriptions, so if you aren’t familiar with Texas wine, just trust us when we say everything that leaves their twin spigots is delightful.
Ferris & Fletch Wine Co.
Ferris & Fletch Wine Co. pours our favorite wines in Fredericksburg. The standout in their lineup is the California-sourced Cabernet Sauvignon, expertly crafted and well-priced, with notes of dark fruit and a smooth finish. It’s the kind of wine you taste once and then immediately make follow-up plans to sip again. If you’re looking for a relaxed, low-pressure wine tasting in a beautiful modern farmhouse setting, Ferris & Fletch is your best option.

You’ve probably enjoyed a glass on the patio without realizing their secret and thought, “Hmm, this sure is a great spot” before returning to your evening. With a great selection of wine and beer available, Lincoln Street can feel like a treasure hunt, so we’ll narrow it down for you: get the cheese board. Featuring havarti with dill, brie, salami, fresh bread, and fresh fruit, the board sounds simple.
It’s not. Between the expert cheese selection and that warm, salty bread with its pleasant olive oil taste, it all comes together remarkably well. Lincoln Street runs a friendly lounge operation, but make time at least once to enjoy their wonderful back porch, which feels like the screened-in porch at someone’s grandparents’ Texas ranch.

Even though THE CLUB at Barons CreekSide sits right in the heart of Fredericksburg, it offers a surprisingly romantic atmosphere with stunning views of the Texas Hill Country. Comfortable patio seating overlooks the rolling landscape, shade covers every table, and though Barons CreekSide isn’t exactly remote, sitting here feels far more tranquil than your other options along the main Fredericksburg thoroughfares.
But this welcoming spot is more than just a beautiful patio—the food coming out of the kitchen is excellent, too. We particularly love the perfectly cooked NY strip, the rich and flavorful gumbo, and the classic wedge salad with crisp lettuce and creamy dressing.
Elk Store Winery & Distillery

Elk Store Winery & Distillery is a fantastic local spot in Fredericksburg and a place to come to any day of the week for craft cocktails, wine, and mouthwatering dishes like the four cheese onion flatbread. Rows of cozy chairs, inviting lighting, and the essence of the Elk Store all wafting their magic across the room. It’s a sight to behold.
